FULL HOUSE Stars Reimagine Cast as Other ’90s Sitcom Characters
By Movieguide® Contributor
Jodie Sweetin and Andrea Barber had some fun in a recent episode of their podcast, “How Rude, Tanneritos!” as they recast their FULL HOUSE costars as iconic characters of other ’90s shows.
The episode began with the pair tackling FRIENDS. Sweetin began by admitting she wasn’t a big fan of the show and didn’t know the characters that well. However, she believed Bob Saget’s Danny perfectly matched Monica’s “neurotic,” “super-clean” personality. Barber, however, argued “she’s the D.J.” of the show.
“Phoebe is the Kimmy because she’s the wackadoo,” Barber explained. “She’s just on her own planet. So that’s easy.”
“But always oddly, like, the voice of reason, right?” Sweetin added. “Like, she would be the one that would say something and you’re like, ‘Wait, that actually makes sense.’”
Out of ideas for the rest of the FRIENDS cast, they moved on to SAVED BY THE BELL.
“Kimmy would be the Screech for sure,” Barber said. “And I might actually put Danny as Mr. Belding. Like, that seems like he would be, you know, he’s a little nerdy, but, you know, the kids don’t totally respect him, but he’s like a father figure.”
“We can just throw Gia in there ‘cause she’s just in high school with a fake ID,” Sweetin added jokingly. “She’s actually the one that gave Jessie [Elizabeth Berkly] the idea for the caffeine pills,” Sweetin explained, revealing some lore behind one of the show’s most famous episodes.
Sweetin and Barber also cast John Stamos as Slater, largely because both were huge teen heartthrobs.
Other shows they recast included BOY MEETS WORLD with Michelle as Mr. Feeny, SEINFELD with Kimmy as Kramer, SESAME STREET with Joey and Danny as Bert and Ernie and HOME IMPROVEMENT with Joey and Jesse both being fit to play Tim “The Tool Man” Taylor.
Goofy episodes like this are the reason Sweetin and Barber created “How Rude, Tanneritos!”
“FULL HOUSE was our childhood for eight years, eight very formative years. And so, getting to relive those memories, things that we haven’t thought about in 35 years, I expect it’s going to deepen our bond even more than it already is,” Barber said when the show first launched.

The pair also intend their podcast to be a tribute to their late co-star Bob Saget.
“I am so eager to get these memories recorded because, ever since we lost Bob last year — and I lost my mom the year before that — I have been feeling the sense of urgency to capture these memories and get them down permanently so that we will have them forever, our kids can listen to them, our beloved fanbase, who is so loyal, can listen to this forever,” Barber shared.
So what can fans expect from the podcast?
Sweetin promised “so much behind-the-scenes stuff” as the pair rewatch the show.
Co-star Dave Coulier has also launched a FULL HOUSE rewatch podcast, but Sweetin and Barber say there is no competition between them.
