GAC Family Start Production For THE CHRISTMAS FARM

GAC Family Start Production For THE CHRISTMAS FARM

By Movieguide® Contributor

GAC Family announced the start of production for THE CHRISTMAS FARM, one of their upcoming holiday movies.

THE CHRISTMAS FARM will star Grace Prize® nominee Jill Wagner and GENERAL HOSPITAL actor Cameron Mathison.

The movie tells the story of two people who come together to put on a festival and grow closer in the process.

The GAC Family’s press release reads:

Janie (Wagner), a rising marketing executive living in The Big Apple, returns to her hometown of Woodland Falls when her Great-Uncle Randall passes away. Janie is not prepared for the gift Randall has bestowed onto his last living relative: the family homestead, Janie’s childhood home. While not immediately sure what to do with a fully functioning farm, Janie agrees to honor Randall’s final request to plan and host Woodland Falls’ annual Winter Wonderland as Randall’s gift to his community. Randall has even arranged for his farmhand, Dylan (Mathison) to help at the event, which is being held in the farm’s sprawling barn. Aware that her Manhattan boyfriend is anxious for her to return to the city so the pair can jet off to a previously planned holiday on the beach, Janie begins to feel an unexpected emotional tug about living life in a more authentic, meaningful way.

GAC Family’s “Great American Christmas” will begin on October 28, but fans of the network’s Christmas content will be able to watch all their favorites from last year starting this month. Throughout May and June, GAC Family will play a fan-favorite holiday movie every Saturday night.

Movieguide® previously reported on GAC Family’s mission to provide family-friendly content:

GAC Family CEO and founder Bill Abbott recently shared his motivation to create the family-friendly channel in a competitive landscape of streaming content.

After 20 years with Crown Media, Abbott left the Hallmark empire and created GAC Family. Abbott discussed the new streaming network on the latest episode of “Up Next with John Contratti.”

“There’s so much need for family content in the market and in this space,” Abbott told Contratti. “It’s pretty scary, quite frankly, the amount of content that’s out there, the vast majority of it is salacious and is not appropriate for any member of the family, really. From my point of view, it’s pretty easy, open space, and something I really am passionate about.”

“We want to be the leader and family television,” he continued. “We think that we’ve assembled a terrific team, not only at our networks, but also on the talent side; people who are well known to the audience and the audience loves.”

Abbott said that while GAC Family will continue to focus on Christmas movies and romantic comedies, they want to balance quality with moral content.

“We think the romcom genre gets a bad name to a degree, by a quantity over quality philosophy that I think some channels have,” he said. “Just because something’s a romcom doesn’t mean that it has a lot of heart, emotion, and a romantic story. Some of them missed the mark, just because they’re rushed and there isn’t the amount of time spent in creating a quality offering.”

“We want to be relentlessly family-friendly, we want to be consistent, and we want to be high quality,” he added. “If we do those three things, I think that we’ll deliver on the promise and will be the leader in the space.”
