Great American Family has just shared a first look at the adorable animals that will compete in this year’s GREAT AMERICAN RESCUE BOWL.
The program, put together in partnership with North Shore Animal League America, will feature kittens and puppies who are in need of homes.
The North Shore Animal League America is “a pioneer of the no-kill movement” and “continues to lead the way with the development of national and international programs that increase adoptions and raise awareness about the plight of homeless animals,” per its website.
TV Insider shared the cute trading cards GAF has put together to show off the competing animal teams — The Adorables and The Cuddlers.
“Adoption gives beautiful and deserving animals a second chance at life. To see love and gratitude reflected from an adopted pet who has had a heartbreaking start or experience creates one of the most wonderful bonds that life has to offer,” Bill Abbott, Great American Media’s president and CEO, said. “Our company is proud to partner with North Shore Animal League America, pioneers of the no-kill movement and architect of the happy ending for more than a million deserving shelter pets for 80 years.”
Joanne Yohannan, the Senior Vice President of Operations for the North Shore Animal League America, added, “We are deeply grateful for the heartfelt support of the entire Great American Media family. This fun-filled program shines a light on the importance of rescue and adoption. It also highlights the positive impact of welcoming a rescue pet into your life.”
This is the third annual GREAT AMERICAN RESCUE BOWL.
In a statement about the event’s first year, Abbott said he “couldn’t be more proud” to spotlight the issue of animal homelessness.
“By highlighting these heartwarming adoption stories and the lifesaving work of North Shore Animal League America, we hope this national rescue adoption event will inspire viewers to visit their local shelter and adopt a loving pet,” he explained.
Movieguide® previously reported on last year’s RESCUE BOWL, as well as the PUPPY BOWL:
Excitement is building for animal lovers everywhere in anticipation for the PUPPY BOWL XIX and GREAT AMERICAN RESCUE BOWL airing this Sunday.
PUPPY BOWL XIX will happen this Sunday, marking the event’s nineteenth year raising awareness about the importance of pet adoption.
The event will feature 122 puppies from 67 shelters and rescues across America.
Another exciting part of the event is the addition of the GREAT AMERICAN RESCUE BOWL sponsored by Great American Family. This event will replace Hallmark’s KITTEN BOWL, which was canceled last year.
The GREAT AMERICAN RESCUE BOWL will also feature animals available for fostering and adoption, including dogs, puppies, cats and kittens.
The GREAT AMERICAN RESCUE BOWL will air Sunday, Feb. 11, on Great American Family.
