Just four days before the United States celebrates independence and freedom on July 4th, Gary Sinise and the Gary Sinise Foundation celebrated the close of their 11th year serving veterans and their families.
Actor Gary Sinise, best known for his role in FORREST GUMP, celebrated the organization’s legacy so far and thanked veterans and their families in a video on social media.
“Hello everyone, Gary Sinise here,” Sinise said. “Well today is the day, June 30th, the end of our eleventh year at the Gary Sinise Foundation. We begin our 12th year tomorrow. With your help we’ve been able to do extraordinary things.
“I always wanted to create an organization that would somehow be a rallying point for people and individuals, companies, organizations who wanted to support the men and women who serve our country,” he added.
“This is our day for doing that, we have gotten so much done over the years, we continue on, our programs expand, we are serving the needs of first responders, their families, our veterans, our gold star families, our wounded,” he explained. “So many areas of need out there and with your help we are able to meet those needs.”
Sinise said that while many honor the sacrifice of veterans across the U.S., there is still work to be done in caring for servicemen and women.
“I have veterans in my family, so I have great respect for our veterans,” Sinise explained. “I know that many of you do have veterans in your families. I hope they are all doing well. But as we know, veterans continue to struggle. So we want to provide services and support for them and with your help we can continue to do that, we can continue to serve those needs and impact so many people across the country.”
“God bless you all, God bless America, and God bless all those who serve our great country. We are here for you, don’t forget it,” he concluded.
To celebrate year 12, Regal pledged a $250,000 matching donation.
Part of the post’s caption reads:
Thanks to your generosity, kindness, and support, we look forward to continuing our mission to honor and serve our nation’s defenders, veterans, first responders, their families, and those in need for many more years to come. We couldn’t do it without you!
