Gary Sinise to Host New Veterans Day Show at National WWII Museum

Actor Gary Sinise recently announced an upcoming event at the National WWII Museum called “Expressions of America.”

The FORREST GUMP star will host the outdoor multimedia event, set to premiere on Veterans Day 2022, and hopes to help educate new generations about the sacrifice of the men and women who fought to defend America and its freedoms.

“The audience that sees it will learn a lot about the ordinary, everyday Americans that went to war,” he said in an announcement video. “They set their tools down, they set their work down, they raised their hands, and they went to war. You’ll learn that through the stories and the letters that are shared at ‘Expressions of America.’ You’ll learn about the entertainers; you’ll experience the music of the time, which lifts your spirits.”

Sinise noted that the music from the 1940s did its best to lift people’s spirits instead of dwelling in the darkness of the time.

“It was almost like the entertainers said, ‘Well, we’re not necessarily going to reflect the darkness that the world is in right now through music, we are going to try to elevate the world above that darkness through music,'” Sinise explained.

“It’s Innovative, it’s exciting and I think it’s going to bring a new generation of young Americans into the National World War II Museum.”

The event will feature a documentary movie, unique multimedia art installations, and musical entertainment from New Orleans’s legendary Preservation Hall Jazz Band.

Since his breakout role as Lt. Dan in FORREST GUMP, Sinise started the Gary Sinise Foundation and is one of the leading contributors to helping veterans and their families through financial, physical support, and entertainment with music from his Lt. Dan Band.

“I’ve had the privilege of traveling with hundreds of World War II veterans, and walking the property and walking throughout the exhibits with the men and women who served during World War II,” he said. “Every trip has solidified even more my deep commitment to the World War II Museum. I think it’s one of the premier places in New Orleans that everyone should see.”

According to Military.com, tickets will cost $39, with a $3 discount for seniors and a $7 discount for students and people with military ID. Children below five and World War II veterans can enter for free.
