BRINGING UP BATES star Lawson Bates married actress Tiffany Espensen earlier this month after a whirlwind romance.
The reality star and actress married in San Diego, aboard a yacht that held their family and friends.
“This day has superseded all expectations I have ever had,” Bates told People. “I could have never even dreamed of marrying someone so kind, sincere and passionate about life as Tiffany! She has the absolute most beautiful heart, and I’m so blessed that God chose to bring us together.”
Epensen added: “It feels like we have waited so long for this day. We feel so blessed to finally be ‘Mr. and Mrs.’”
The couple started dating in February 2021, and Bates popped the question just eight months later.
“We are both so grateful to each person who has invested into our lives,” the couple said, referring to friends, family, and all those who helped them pull off their dream wedding.
“As we’ve packed bags preparing for our wedding and for the move to our new house in Nashville, Tennessee, we’ve been flooded with memories of our past, and we’ve been reminded of the love people have shown each of us over the years,” they continued. “We owe a huge ‘Thanks’ to you!”
Faith has been essential to the couple’s relationship. Bates spoke at length about his faith to Movieguide® during the pandemic:
Lawson Bates, of BRINGING UP BATES, told Movieguide®’s Evy Baehr Carroll about how his parents encouraged him to have a personal relationship with God.
“One thing my parents encouraged us they said, ‘Your faith has to be something personal. It has to be something that is yours,’” the reality star said.
He continued, “We can’t just give you our faith and you say, ‘oh, this is what our parents are this is what you are.’ You need to find that path on your own. You need to let God direct and lead you there.”
Bates said his parents put an emphasis on faith in their home growing up, which helped him come to the decision to give his life to God at a young age.
“I became a Christian when I was 11. Some people say that’s too young, that’s too old,” Bates said.
“I think that in life you know, we’re all at different places, but each of us, you know, when God’s prompting us, whether it’s you know about our faith, personally, we just need to follow that, that prompting. I became a Christian at 11 and it’s the best thing I ever did,” he explained.
