‘God Gave You a Light’: VOICE Judges Give 4-Chair Turn to Gospel-Raised Contestant

By Movieguide® Contributor

THE VOICE contestant Cameron Wright just received the highest honor you can on the singing talent show — a four-chair turn!

Minneapolis native Wright performed Barbra Streisand’s “The Way We Were,” earning button-pushes from Michael Bublé, Gwen Stefani, Reba McEntire, and Snoop Dogg.

“That was spectacular — one of my favorite songs,” McEntire told the singer. “And boy, you sang the heck out of it! This ain’t your first rodeo, is it?”

No, it wasn’t — Wright was raised by a Gospel-singing mother, which instilled the musical confidence that the judges and the viewers say onstage.

“I mean, you just came in and sliced the air out of the room,” Stefani gushed. “Not one moment wasn’t perfect, the way you sang that. It was insane!”

All four coaches wanted Wright, but it was Bublé who ended up adding the talented singer to his team.

“We all know you have a beautiful voice. But my favorite part about you is that God gave you a light that pours out of you,” he told Wright. “You can’t buy it, you can’t bottle it. I would love to be your coach.”

Wright isn’t the only contestant Bublé ended up nabbing away from the other judges. Cassidy Lee, who unsuccessfully auditioned in 2020, returned to the show with a rocking version of Linda Ronstadt’s “You’re No Good.”

“As I was watching you, I was thinking a couple things,” Bublé told the young singer. “First I was thinking, ‘Thank you Jesus, that these coaches touched their buttons so many times they’re not gonna do it again.’ ‘Cause I hear something in your voice that is unique. It’s really feminine, but at the same time you’ve got this rocking growl that I was like, ‘Oof.’”

Movieguide® previously reported on Bublé’s first season on THE VOICE:

Michael Bublé is happy to be around on THE VOICE Season 26, which has a special mesh of coaches, unlike any previous season of the show.

“I was really nervous to do the show,” Bublé told TV Insider this week. “But from what I hear from the crew that’s been there all 14 years, is that there’s been nothing like this [group of coaches]. We’re just a group that gelled and really complement each other, really liked each other. I think it’s a special thing, and I really can’t wait for people to see it. I think they’re going have a tremendous time watching.”

THE VOICE has a high-energy atmosphere, but Bublé loves it.

“It’s intense. But it’s the best job I’ve ever had. My mom and dad came today to see the first taping and they were like, ‘This is the greatest show on earth.’ It’s electric,” he said.
