‘God, Use Me’: THE VOICE’s Jeremy Rosado Shares Heart Behind Hit Single
By Movieguide® Contributor
Former contestant of THE VOICE Jeremy Rosado caught up on life after his time on the hit show with his former VOICE mentor Kelly Clarkson before performing his new song on THE KELLY CLARKSON SHOW.
Prior to finding success on THE VOICE, Rosado was a contestant on AMERICAN IDOL about 10 years ago where he made it to the top 13.
“[C]oming off IDOL and…life happening and having to just put music on pause and to be completely honest after years of chasing it … I just kind of let it go… I thought the dream was gone. And so here we are 10 years later,” Rosado said.
After his time on IDOL, he adopted his niece and became a worship leader at Free Life Chapel in Florida, but decided to give his dream another shot when he went on to audition for THE VOICE in 2021, making it as a finalist.
When Clarkson asked the singer how faith has helped him in the music industry, he credits his background in leading worship in church, which he has done since he was 15-yeas-old.
The 30-year-old told Clarkson,“It’s hard. I mean, I’m just starting, you know, but…leading people in worship has been the foundation for me.”
He continued,”[J]ust like growing on that and becoming a vocalist, understanding being on a platform and even though it’s worship, engaging with the crowd… it just has given me so much and it’s the foundation, and I love Jesus.”
Rosado agreed with Clarkson, who also grew up singing in church, when she told him, “Having been taught like, this isn’t about me… you’re the vessel for something bigger. That’s very helpful.”
“There is something that I can …sit here …. and be like, ‘You know what God, use me,’” Rosado said.
His first song that he released with Capitol Christian Music Group “Believe You Will” is inspired by his dependence on God when he first took on raising his niece.
“I’ve had moments where I first became a dad…and trying to figure out how he was going to provide, I mean, I’m 21-years-old trying to figure this out with a kid and all the other things that are attached to this,” Rosado recalled.
“He’s been so faithful to us,… and so that’s what this song is about. ‘I believe You will…You’ll do this and You have before, God, You’ve proven to me that I’m not actually alone in this,’” the Queens, New York, native said.
Rosado said these are the type of songs that he is passionate about.
“I don’t want to put out nothing but this kind of music that allows people to connect and be able to just draw from those complicated and hard situations— pull hope out of them,” he said.
Movieguide® previously reported on his record deal with Capitol Christian Music:
“Signing with Capitol is a dream come true!” the singer told The Christian Post. “It’s been a decade since I started pursuing this career, so many years of ups and downs, so to be here now feels unreal!”
“We could not be more excited to welcome Jeremy Rosado to our roster,” Brad O’Donnell and Hudson Plachy, co-presidents of Capitol CMG, said in a statement about the signing. “He’s an incredible vocalist with a rare talent and powerful story. We can’t wait to start putting his music out into the world and believe big things are ahead for him.”
Rosado has been hard at work on his upcoming album, and will hit the road as an opening act for Newsboys this fall.
“I’m just so thankful to God; He has far surpassed anything I could think or imagine, and I can’t wait to see where He takes me on this journey!” Rosado shared.
