By Movieguide® Contributor

Russell Wilson was just released from his position as the Denver Broncos quarterback, and despite the sudden change, he’s trusting God.

“HE always gets the glory! Tough times don’t last, but tough people do. God’s got me. I am excited for what’s next,” he said in a statement before thanking those who were part of his time with the Broncos.

“Broncos Country, Thank You! Over these last two years, you have welcomed my family and me with open arms and have embraced us as members of the Denver community,” Wilson said. “This city will always hold a special place in my heart. Our family grew here, we made countless memories and friendships, and formed relationships that will last a lifetime.”

He also thanked his teammates.

“Thank you for going to battle together and for being there through it all,” he wrote. “There are so many moments I cherish because of you and I am blessed for the impact you have made on my life.”

Wilson concluded his message with a special thanks to the team pastor.

“Finally, to Ray, Aka Pastor Ray Jackson. Thanks for your countless prayers. Daily. To give God the praise daily and us getting on the floor to thank Jesus for breath in the good times and the bad times,” Wilson wrote.

Wilson will become a free agent on March 13.

Church Leaders reported, “In the 30 games Wilson started for Denver, he went 11-19. The Broncos started the 2023 campaign by going 1-5, and by season’s end, Wilson had been benched.”

“We thank Russell for his contributions and dedications to our team and community while wishing him the best as he continues his career,” the team posted on social media. “We are excited to improve this offseason and will have the flexibility to get better through the draft and free agency.”

There is no information yet as to where Wilson will play next season, but he trusts God to provide the next steps.

What’s cooler than getting a one-on-one training session with NBA legend Steph Curry?

Russell Wilson, quarterback for the Denver Broncos, made that happen for his 9-year-old stepson, Future, at the NBA All-Star weekend.

Wilson shared a video of Future with the Golden State Warriors shooting guard.

“Best Shooting Coach in the World. ‘Believe it! Believe it!’ @stephencurry30 Grateful! #ProudDad,” he wrote.
