In recent years, faith-based entertainment has become evermore popular, largely in part to Bill Abbott, founder and CEO of Great American Media, who is offering biblically backed TV shows and movies without compromise.
“We have a very loyal audience and we happen to believe the majority of the country wants to see traditional family values and really experience content that’s supportive of faith, family and country,” Abbott said. “And you look at Hollywood and 98, 99% of what’s produced is…anti-American, people of faith are demeaned and mocked, families are never shown in the traditional sense.”
“Currently, as we sit today, we are the leading streaming provider of faith and family content that’s supportive of country,” Abbott continued. “Linear TV is a place where we have had a lot of success…we are on that…mission…and we will never deviate. It is entertainment without compromise. We’ll never compromise our standards or let our viewers down.”
Since launching in the summer of 2021, Great American Family has become a content powerhouse, finding especially notable success through Great American Christmas. In 2022, it was the fastest growing TV network, an honor it held through much of 2023 as well.
Hoping to continue its rise in popularity, Great American Family merged with Pure Flix in May of 2023 to allow its content to be streamed and reach the millions of Americans who no longer have access to cable.
“It’s a merger of like minded missions,” Abbott said around the time of the merger. “The reality of both services is that they’ll be impacted by each other. I think the Great American family will benefit from the strong faith components that Pure Flix has done so well over the years, and Great American Pure Flix, we could call it, will be the beneficiary of the lighter fare that has done so well on Great American Family.”
“The vision of being the ultimate destination for viewers in the faith and family space is our objective and we believe will happen in the next three, five years,” he added.
Great American Family broadcasted the Movieguide® Awards Gala the last two years. The most recent broadcast is available right now on PureFlix.
The network has also found great success in bringing over top talent to both star in movies as well as steer the company. Candace Cameron Bure, for example, has led multiple projects while also serving as the company’s Chief Creative Officer and her partnership with the company has helped bring on much of this talent.

“Candace Cameron Bure has a knack for finding beautifully crafted, meaningful stories that she and her team nurture into great family films,” Abbott previously said. “We are so proud to include the wonderful Laura Osnes in our family of talent and Just In Time is that little gem of a movie viewers will want to watch over and over for years to come.”
