By Movieguide® Contributor
A recording of THE PASSION PLAY is coming to Great American Family ahead of Easter weekend.
Candace Cameron Bure posted about the broadcast on Instagram, which is set to air on Good Friday.
“The death and resurrection of Jesus are the FOUNDATION of the Christian faith, and what better time to premiere THE PASSION PLAY than on Good Friday of Easter weekend!” Bure wrote.
He caption continued, “The first Passion Play took place in 1634 after villagers in Oberammergau vowed to perform the suffering, death, and resurrection of Christ every ten years so no one would die from the plague anymore. That promise has been kept to this day and I am thrilled to announce the Passion Play will air on Good Friday (April 7th) on @gactv (commercial free) at 4p Est ????✨ Performed at @shepherdchurch@dudleyrutherford.”
Danica McKellar commented on the post, writing, “As you know, seeing that Passion Play last year marked the beginning of my Faith Journey – I’ll never forget that day, and I’m forever grateful to you for inviting me. And I’m so thrilled it will be airing on @gactv!!”
Movieguide® previously reported on McKellar’s faith journey and the role Bure played in it:
Great American Family actors Danica McKellar and Candace Cameron Bure recently discussed their faith and how they celebrate the Christmas holiday.
McKellar recently joined the CANDACE CAMERON BURE PODCAST and thanked Bure for her gift of a bible which led to a new relationship with Jesus earlier this year.
“Candace, I don’t wanna brush over the huge, huge impact that you’ve had on my life this year,” McKellar said. “I don’t even know how to call that like friendship, it’s more than that. Because of you helping me to find my relationship with God and Jesus, it’s been like a revolution in my life. It’s been a revelation in my life.”
“You gave me this Bible that I read all the time and I love it so much and I go to church now and I just, I talk to Jesus all the time every day. It’s unbelievable. And you were like my guide. You were just an angel in my life and you still are. And I just wanna thank you for that publicly,” she added.
McKellar said that while she grew up around religion, she only saw the “negative side” of it, and was missing out on genuine Christianity.
“There’s so much love and joy,” she explained. “Religion had always been something in my life that I’d only been exposed to the negative part of it. It has been used to do very mean things, evil things throughout history. Anything powerful we use and corrupt it from time to time. And so that was my association with it, and I was missing out on all the amazing, beautiful stuff. Like all the good stuff. I wasn’t open-minded to it before.”
THE PASSION PLAY will be available to watch on Good Friday at 4pm EST on Great American Family.
