DESTINATION HEAVEN stars Harry Lennix as God and features Kevin Sorbo, Emily Rose and Tim Bensch

“The six-part scripted series that premieres May 24 follows God as he encounters people in a myriad of circumstances who all believe they’re doing the right things — that is, until they discover their approach to being good is going through the motions rather than growing emotionally or intellectually from the circumstance,” Deadline reported.

Per PR Newswire, “In episode one of DESTINATION HEAVEN, ‘Home Is Where,’ Jenna (Rose) and Malcom (Bensch) are successful professionals who live and work in an upscale community. The pair believe by donating cash to charities that they are doing everything they can to better mankind. While asking God to bless her, Jenna is transported to a heavenly place where she encounters God working alone in a workshop of picture frames.”

“God asks Jenna to help him frame a variety of shots of a man who Jenna doesn’t recognize and claims never to have seen until God tells her this is Darrel, the homeless man who has pitched a tent in her parking lot and who she passes every day on her way into the office,” the synopsis continues. “As Jenna protests about just how much she contributes to organizations, she eventually acknowledges she’s never looked Darrel in the face, never even spoken to him as she passes. Just as Jenna changes and becomes caringly conscious, Darrel disappears leaving Jenna confused and afraid about what may have happened to him. Forever changed, Jenna knows her encounter with God wasn’t about Darrel’s life. It was about hers.”

DESTINATION HEAVEN will mark Great American Pure Flix’s latest venture into original content. Its first, COUNTRY RESCUE, debuted earlier this year.

“Dani (Julia Reilly) and the other EMTs in training are courageous, everyday heroes. With only one opening and three paramedic trainees, Dani’s faith in herself is tested on each and every call. She believes her calling is to save lives. Now, she has to prove it. Her competition? The fire chief’s impulsive son and an over-qualified rookie,” a summary reads.

The stars of Great American Family’s first original series, COUNTY RESCUE, are sharing their thoughts on the show’s themes and what they hope viewers take away from it.

“I love the blend of the faith and family [themes] that you see in COUNTY RESCUE,” Kristin Wollett said in an interview with Movieguide®. “It’s so interesting to actually have the faith element with it because it’s a very demanding job…and so it addresses these real-life issues that people face.”

She continued, “We lean into all of that to explore where God shows up in all of that and the power that He has in all of these situations and what that looks like.”
