Pastor Greg Laurie announced on Wednesday that he, his wife Cathe Laurie and former NFL star Benjamin Watson will speak at 2024’s March for Life event, along with Christian artist Danny Gokey.
“Cathe Laurie and I are honored to be asked to speak and pray at the March For Life event in Washington, DC on January 19, 2024,” Laurie said.
“Every year since 1974, pro-life advocates have gathered to spread a message of hope and life for innocent babies at risk of abortion and to help change the narrative in support of life,” the pastor said. “This year’s theme, which was announced on November 14, will be ‘With Every Woman, For Every Child.’ Join us!”
March for Life confirmed that Gokey and Watson will also be there. The singer and former NFL player haven’t spoken about the event just yet, but in 2021, Gokey shared a heartfelt message on his socials: “I’ve made it known that I am pro-life, but that means I am not only for the pre-born, but also for the mothers! I believe that God’s heart is for all to be saved – ALL are welcome.”
He continued, “2,363 babies are aborted in America EVERY DAY, but together we can fight for life & freedom for both babies AND mothers! Join me in the fight for those who have no voice by going to 2363.org and learn how you can make a difference by following my friends at @liveactionorg and @lilaroseofficial.”
Watson, a strong pro-life advocate, frequently speaks out about the value of life. In June, he launched a book called “The New Fight for Life.” In it, Watson talks about how the pro-life movement needs to be reshaped since Roe V. Wade has been overturned.
Movieguide® recently reported on his call to be a “Voice for the Voiceless”:
“As believers, we are called to be voices for the voiceless. And that manifests itself in a lot of different ways,” Watson told CBN’s Faithwire.
“Right now, is a very contentious time in America,” he added. “Right now, in this post-Roe era, there’s just so many narratives to combat and so many people that are trying to figure out what’s the best way to serve. So, it has been an honor and I believe a duty to speak into this topic.”
“I believe that the human person, starting from fertilization or conception to natural death, bears the image of God,” Watson said, according to News Nation. “I believe that every person has inherent value, whether they are liberal or conservative. Whether they come from any sort of ethnic background or any socio-economic status.”
