Hailey Bieber Suffers from ‘A Little Bit of PTSD’ After Mini-Stroke
By Movieguide® Contributor
Hailey Bieber revealed that she struggles with post-traumatic stress disorder after experiencing a mini-stroke last year.
“I struggled with a lot of anxiety after. I struggled with a little bit of PTSD of just, like, the fear of maybe it was gonna happen again,” Bieber shared during a recent episode of the “Run-Through With Vogue” podcast.
Movieguide® previously reported that Bieber’s doctors discovered a blood clot in her brain after she experienced stroke-like symptoms.
“I was sitting at breakfast with my husband when I started having stroke-like symptoms and was taken to the hospital. They found I had suffered a very small blood clot to my brain, which caused a small lack of oxygen, but my body had passed it on its own and I recovered completely within a few hours,” she shared on Instagram at the time.
During her recent Vogue interview, she shared more details about the experience.
“It was just a feeling that I was, like, I never want to experience that ever again. It was so terrifying, so jarring, so discombobulating in every single way that you could imagine,” she said.
She added that visits to the area where she had the stroke cause a “triggering” feeling.
“Even the first couple of times coming back here after was a little bit of a strange, triggering kind of feeling for me because you just remember exactly how everything happened in that moment,” Bieber explained.
“I’m just really grateful that I was able to have had amazing doctors and nurses, and people that helped me get to the bottom of what actually happened,” she concluded.
Movieguide® previously reported on Bieber’s recovery process:
Hailey Bieber recently gave fans an update on her health after suffering a mini stroke earlier this year.
“My body is taking a little longer to heal than they thought it would,” she shared. “After they did the heart procedure, I’m always the person who’s in a rush to get back to things, but this has taught me that it’s not physically possible sometimes.”
Part of the recovery process has meant slowing down; especially when it comes to her exercise routine.
“I love fitness, so the last couple of months have been a little hard for me because it’s such an important part of my routine and day,” Bieber said.
Bieber announced she suffered the stroke in March.
