Thursday afternoon, Hallmark announced the news that they’re no longer working with actress Lori Loughlin. The decision comes after to her alleged involvement in the college admissions cheating scandal that headlined the news this week and involved over 40 other people.
Hallmark’s tweet reads, “We are saddened by the recent news surrounding the college admissions allegations. We are no longer working with Lori Loughlin and have stopped development of all productions featuring Lori on the Crown Media Family Network channels – including #GarageSaleMysteries.”

Hallmark has worked with Loughlin on many projects including the GARAGE SALE MYSTERIES movies and the series WHEN CALLS THE HEART which won Movieguide’s Epiphany Prize for Inspiring Television program in February.
In November of 2018, Loughlin spoke of the value for family-programming, and why she feels Hallmark’s positive messages are so valuable. With knowledge of recent events, her words ring true with a different tone. “We’re a society now where we’re news 24/7 no matter where you turn. There are a lot of sad or depressing stories out there. I think you want a place to escape and feel good and be transported. Hallmark’s a really good place to do that.”
The WHEN CALLS THE HEART Christmas special scored superb ratings in December. Super-fans, “hearties,” waited until late February for the premiere of the sixth season which is now in full swing. Hallmark tweeted yesterday they’re “evaluating all creative options” when it comes to developing the show further and will postpone airing the newest WHEN CALLS THE HEART.
In the wake of the sad news, Paul Greene who plays Dr. Carson on WHEN CALLS THE HEART urged fans of the show to post what they’re grateful for in life.
We’d like to join his encouragement and ask you the same. In the midst of pain, hurt and injustice in the world, what are you grateful for today? Let us know in the comments!
Update as of April 10, 2019: Although Lori Loughlin will no longer star on WHEN CALLS THE HEART, Hallmark announced this morning that the series will air two new episodes on Sunday after being off-air due to the news surrounding the college admissions scandal.
WHEN CALLS THE HEART producer Brian Bird shared the following after the announcement of going on-air again:
#Hearties… I hope you all got to see @erinkrakow‘s beautiful statement today about the return of S6 of @WCTH_TV on @hallmarkchannel. Here is my two cents for you, as well! pic.twitter.com/XCOZrGHRpU
