Harry Connick Jr. Stars in New RomCom: ‘People Will Fall In Love’

Harry Connick Jr. is set to star in FIND ME FALLING, a new romantic comedy for Netflix.
A Facebook post from Netflix describes the movie as “An aging rock star moves to an isolated cliffside home in the Mediterranean — but his dreams of keeping a low profile fall apart when an old flame shows up.”
While some may think Connick Jr. playing a musician would be easy for the Grammy-winning singer, FIND ME FALLING’s writer and director, Stelana Kliris, said he is “playing against type.”
“We couldn’t have asked for a better fit, and on top of that, he wrote two fantastic songs for the film,” she said of the actor.
In addition to Connick Jr., FIND ME FALLING stars Agni Scott, Ali Fumiko Whitney, Tony Demetriou, Aggeliki Filippidou, Lea Maleni, Athina Roditou and Clarence Smith.
Kliris praised the cast’s performances, saying, “You can have all the bells, whistles and gags that you want, but without real substance, you can’t connect with your star-crossed lovers. You also need characters — and the actors who play them — that people will fall in love with. FIND ME FALLING certainly has both.”
FIND ME FALLING will premiere on Netflix on July 19.
In addition to acting, Connick Jr. is still creating music. His last album, “Alone With My Faith,” saw the singer cover hymns like “Amazing Grace” and “How Great Thou Art” and perform original songs like “Benevolent Man.”
“I grew up with faith,” he told Forbes. “My faith has always been there. It certainly was developed over time…faith has always been there, but it’s certainly transformed and grown and evolved.”
Movieguide® previously reported on “Alone With My Faith”:
Award-winning artist Harry Connick Jr. is no stranger to teaming up with the best in the industry. However, for his newest album, “Alone With My Faith,” Connick Jr. worked from home and reflected on his faith.
“Those were songs that I’ve sung a lot and haven’t recorded, so I thought it would be cool to do those. And then a couple of the others were actually suggested to me by people in my life. My dad loves the song ‘Panis Angelicus’ (Bread of Angels) and my stepmom loves ‘Old Time Religion,’” Connick Jr. told Guideposts.
Connick revealed that prayer became an important part of the album.
“I may pray during the song or the song itself may be a prayer. These songs are very powerful and are themselves prayers, like ‘Panis Angelicus’ or ‘The Old Rugged Cross,’” Connick Jr. explained. “If you’re present and you’re really paying attention to what’s being played and sung they can serve very similar purposes to prayers.”
