FOX Nation has picked up GOD. FAMILY. FOOTBALL, relaunching the show and putting a second season into production.
“FOX Nation signed a deal to become the exclusive partner for all-new seasons of the hit series GOD. FAMILY. FOOTBALL,” a press release reads. “Originally available on Amazon, FOX Nation will re-launch the show with a new season featuring eight never-before-seen episodes dropping every Friday night, starting on October 11th, and running throughout the fall.”
A synopsis of GOD. FAMILY. FOOTBALL. reads, “The 2022 high school football season is one of high hopes for Evangel Christian Academy. After going 0-9 in 2020 and not winning a game for the first time in history, Head Coach and Pastor Denny Duron is looking to bring the glory back to the storied football program. The team must stay unified and focused while battling adversity, on and off the field, in order to make a run at the state title.”
The release added that a second season is set to premiere in 2025 and “will serve as the kickoff for FOX Nation’s ‘FOX Faith’ vertical which features hundreds of hours of religious content all new to the platform,” including docudrama MARTIN SCORSESE PRESENTS: THE SAINTS.
“With football season in full swing, we are thrilled to become the new home of this compelling and inspiring show,” Lauren Petterson, president of FOX Nation, said. “It’s an honor to be able to share their story of resilience and character with our viewers and this is the perfect program to launch our FOX Faith vertical on FOX Nation.”
Movieguide® previously reported on GOD. FAMILY. FOOTBALL. and its executive producer, NFL star Russell Wilson:
NFL quarterback Russell Wilson has joined pastor and high school football coach Denny Duron in the new Amazon Freevee series GOD. FAMILY. FOOTBALL.
“I can’t even tell you what it means to have Russell Wilson involved,” Duron said. “Russell really, really loves Jesus and is so open about his faith. My conversation with him just a couple of weeks ago was fire. I mean, he is so excited about this. I think he was more fired up than I was, honestly.”
“He said, ‘I’m going to war with you guys,” he added. “‘We’re going to believe that God is going to use this to touch people’s lives.’ He was just really preaching.”
“I got off of that phone call like: ‘Man, God has really put this vision of God, family, football in Russell Wilson’s heart. He’s proud of the series; that makes us proud. He is just committed with everything that’s within him to seeing this thing succeed,” Duron expressed.
