HGTV Star Ty Pennington Dishes on Absence from This Show

HGTV personality Ty Pennington isn’t part of the newest season of EXTREME MAKEOVER and comedically addressed his absence in an Instagram video.
The post showed Pennington lip syncing to a popular audio clip from FRIENDS where the character Ross says “I’m fine” when he really wasn’t. Pennington mouthed along with the audio, “I’m fine! Totally fine! I don’t know why it’s coming out all loud and squeaky, ’cause really… I’m fine!””
“When someone asks me why I’m not on THAT 👀 show,” his caption said. “No, really, I’m FINE! 😅📢🏚️”
After hosting EXTREME MAKEOVER: HOME EDITION from 2004-2012, Pennington was not asked back to host the reboot, which premiered Jan. 2
Fans ran to the comment section with support. “There’s no Extreme Making over without Ty! Period!” one user said. Another person added, “You may be fine but the rest of us aren’t!!! Nobody else can make me cry like you did every Sunday night 😂!!”
Luckily, Pennington isn’t leaving HGTV. He will host ROCK THE BLOCK, where “Top HGTV designers have just weeks and a limited budget to renovate four blank-slate homes on the same block with their signature styles. The designers who net the highest appraisal get bragging rights and a street named in their honor,” per HGTV. The Season 6 will premier April 14 at 9/8c.

And since ROCK THE BLOCK was HGTV’s highest rated series to date, Pennington doesn’t have anything to worry about.
He celebrated its success on Instagram last year, citing a news story that read,”ROCK THE BLOCK continues to captivate fans in major ways. The latest season of the HGTV series hosted by Ty Pennington reigns as the network’s highest rated series to date in 2024. The series drew in 13.6 million total viewers from the March 4 premier date of season five to the finale in April.”
