HGTV’s Jenny Marrs Shares Message of ‘Redemption, New Life and Hope’

FIXER TO FABULOUS star and ROCK THE BLOCK competitor Jenny Marrs recently reflected on the five-year transformation of a barn, where she and her husband, Dave, and a community of believers have celebrated Easter and worshiped Christ together.
“Five years ago, a handful of our dearest people huddled beside us in our barn as wind howled and rain pounded out a steady rhythm on the metal roof above,” Marrs captioned a video of the church singing. “On that Easter morning, we sang and we spoke of hope and fear and the beauty of new life. We broke the bread and poured the wine and kneeled to serve one another.
“We were a broken, tattered bunch,” she added. “We had stumbled and staggered along together, having left our church and our ‘comfortable normal’ months before. We had no idea what God was asking of any of us. We simply knew He was up to something and we all felt the stirring, the wrestling, the yearning, deeply in our bones. We felt it in our unrest. And, we leaned in. We quietly stepped forward with more questions than answers.”
However, in the most recent post, Marrs shared a picture of a full barn for the Easter morning service on April 17.
“Five years later, the barn is painted and it’s harder to find a seat, but we in no way have all of the answers,” she said. “Things often feel more uprooted than ever before. Yet. We gather and we reflect on the stories of resurrection. The stories of redemption. We speak of the hard, the dark, the weary and sorrow-soaked roads. And, we speak of the joy, the answered prayers, the miracles. We pause our busy schedules and breathe deeply together. We refocus our gaze and we remember all that God has done. We open our hands willingly, trusting that whatever He has in store is better than anything we could ever conjure on our own.
“No, it’s not always neat and tidy, and the bow doesn’t always tie beautifully at the end of the chapter in the story,” Marrs confessed. “But, we have lived enough of this Jesus-following, adventure-seeking, Spirit-led life to know that it’s always worth it.
“Easter Sunday is about redemption and new life and Hope. And, we will never stop holding on to the Hope together. Happy Easter to you all, friends.”
