Lady A’s Hillary Scott Leads Worship at Candace Cameron Bure’s Church

Candace Cameron Bure recently posted a video of Hillary Scott, Lady A’s lead singer, leading worship at her church.

“The @hillaryscottla leading worship this morning ? ✝️,” Bure wrote. “Don’t bother with mascara.”

The actress shared a video of Scott singing “Firm Foundation (He Won’t)” by Cody Carnes and Chandler Moore. “Worship at its BEST,” Bure wrote on the video.

While primarily known for her vocals in the country music band Lady A—formerly Lady Antebellum—Scott, a multi-time Grammy award-winning artist, has ventured out to create music that glorifies God.

In 2016, she released a gospel album titled “Love Remains.” It eventually made it to Billboard’s Top 200 list.

“It’s definitely something that I did not take lightly,” she said of the project. “My faith has always been a huge, huge part of my life.”

“I just try to live well and love well and really never point a finger, because you’ve always got one pointing back at you,” she said. “That’s really how I try to wake up every day and live is just focus on, ‘Okay, Lord, refine in me what needs to be refined to be better.’”

When Lady A took a break so each member could focus on personal opportunities, Scott began to work on her new album.

Instead of working with her bandmates, she collaborated with her mom, dad and little sister.

Scott described what it was like to record the album with her family,

“It was such a precious time together, just being able to make new memories, to heal together as a family, to worship together as a family, to grow. We laughed a lot. We cried a whole lot. It was just a really, really awesome experience,” Scott described working on the album with her family.

Thy Will,” one of the best-known tracks from the album, grew out of the pain Scott endured after going through a miscarriage.

She felt “this pressure that you’re just supposed to be able to snap your fingers and continue to walk through life like it never happened.”

“I felt like I was being extremely dishonest if I didn’t share it,” Scott told CCM Magazine. “Not only that, but I also felt like it’s the silent struggle that no one really talks about. It’s everyone’s personal choice whether they want to share or not, and I felt like I was supposed to and just wanted to show that it’s okay to talk about it; it’s okay to grieve. You don’t have to grieve alone in your own head and heart and your bedroom just trying to figure it out.

“It was something that became another part of the mission with this record and just the song, in particular,” she added. “I just feel like there’s a lot of women who need to know they’re not alone.”

Movieguide® previously reported on Scott’s Grammy nomination:

Lady A band member Hillary Scott recently celebrated her Grammy nomination for her collaboration with for King & Country.

Scott shared that she was “grateful” that their song “For God is With Us” was nominated for Best Contemporary Christian Music/Performance.

“This song is just an important message,” Scott explained. “It’s about the bringer of hope, where we find our hope, and to be able to tell this story and hopefully point others to finding that hope themselves just really is important.”

“Now more than ever the world needs this message,” she continued.

Scott shared that she is “such a fan” of For King & Country “and the way that they share this message and the way that they write about it.”
