Hollywood celebrated as three hostages were released back to Israel after 472 days of conflict, signifying a great easing of tensions.

“Doron, Romi and Emily are finally home,” Israeli actress Gal Gadot wrote on her Instagram Story, per The Wrap. “Three families are reunited. Still holding onto hope for the 94 hostages who remain.”

“Romi, Doron and Emily reunited with their mothers after 471 days in Hamas captivity they are finally home and safe again,” added Mayim Bialik, who also reposted a statement from Mandy Damari, Emily’s mother.

“After 471 days Emily is finally home. I want to thank everyone who never stopped fighting for Emily throughout this horrendous ordeal, and who never stopped saying her name…” part of Mandy’s statement reads. “Thank you for bringing Emily home.”

The ceasefire went into effect on Sunday, Jan. 19, allowing much freer border access for those seeking to enter and leave either country. While the ceasefire is a positive step towards ending the conflict, the current deal stipulates 42 days without fighting but promises little more. Hopefully, leaders from both sides can come together during that time to negotiate lasting peace.

The response from these actors celebrating the ceasefire and hostage release is fitting, as many across the industry shared their laments when the violence between these two nations first began.

Gadot, who previously served in her country’s military, was extremely quick to share her lament for Israel when the war first broke out.

“At least 250 Israeli have been murdered and dozens of women, children and elders held as hostages in Gaza by Palestinian military group Hamas,” Gadot wrote in October 2023. “Starting early morning, more than 3,000 rockets were fired. Hamas is holding hostages, controlling bases and settlements in Israel. There have been more than 1,500 injured and heavy fighting is still ongoing. My heart is aching. Praying for those in pain.”

“I stand with Israel, you should too,” Gadot wrote in another post. “The world cannot sit on the fence when these horrific acts of terror are happening.”

After more than a year of fighting, it is encouraging to see steps being taken to ease the conflict between Israel and Palestine. Please keep the leaders in your prayers and that the other 94 hostages who remain will be given their freedom in the upcoming weeks.
