HOUSE OF DAVID is officially getting a second season — and an exciting new filming location.

“The #houseofdavid band is back together!” Jon Erwin posted on Instagram, along with a video of the show’s cast in costume. “Happy Easter Week cause that’s how we roll in #greece love these people!”

The second season of Amazon Prime’s HOUSE OF DAVID was confirmed earlier this month. New episodes will follow David as he ascends to the throne following his battle with Goliath.

“Jon Erwin and Jon Gunn’s compelling creative vision has solidified our belief in the series and we are excited to deliver more of the story to our customers,” Vernon Sanders, head of television at Amazon MGM Studios, said in a statement to Variety. “We look forward to a continued journey with Wonder Project as we further expand our slate to encompass faith-based series.”

In a joint statement, Erwin and Gunn added, “We are humbled by the extraordinary reaction this show has earned from the faith audience worldwide. Thanks to them and our partners at Prime Video and Amazon MGM Studios, Wonder Project will bring more of the Bible and this epic saga to a global audience. Congratulations to our incredible cast and crew.”

Michael Iskander, who plays David, and Martyn Ford (Goliath) spoke to Collider about the show and what they think the ultimate message of the show is.

“I think just the nature of the show, having been a series instead of a movie or a short film, I think just lends itself to truly finding all the little moments about what it means to be a human during that time, and what it means to be up against someone like Goliath,” Iskander said. “And it just allows the show to really dig into every single character, every single relationship, the heart of the story. And we just, we get to take our time and tell it.”

Ford called it “a belter of a story,” adding, “It’s got everything — drama, action, heart. And the message is just so powerful. If someone like David can defeat Goliath, it really shows you what self-belief, determination, and hard work can bring.”

“For me, one of the messages I got from filming the show was a verse from the Bible: ‘Be strong and of good courage. Do not fear,’” Iskander explained. “This is the heart of the story. We all have giants in our lives, and seeing someone take down theirs inspires us to take down our own.”

HOUSE OF DAVID fans can’t wait to see what the second season of the show will bring!
