How Danica McKellar Engages With The Lord’s Prayer

In a video shared via the Great American Community, Danica McKellar gave viewers an update on her Bible reading plan, which recently included the Lord’s Prayer and forgiveness.

McKellar shared that when she had trouble sleeping at night, she would recite the Lord’s Prayer in her head and because of that she has had tons of time to reflect on the prayer.

The Lord’s Prayer reads“This, then, is how you should pray: “Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your name, your kingdom come, your will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us today our daily bread. And forgive us our debts, as we also have forgiven our debtors. And lead us not into temptation but deliver us from the evil one.”

She said that we start off the prayer by acknowledging God and requesting things from Him.

But then we get to the topic of forgiveness which tends to be a tough topic for people.

“There’s one thing that we say we are going to do throughout the whole prayer and that is to forgive those who trespass against us,” McKellar stated

She added, “I know that God’s love isn’t conditional and His gifts aren’t conditional but still, isn’t it interesting that that is the one thing we are called upon to do in the Lord’s Prayer?”

She then touched on how important forgiveness really is.

“Forgiveness is really important and this just signifies how important it is. Essentially more important than I realize. What does forgiveness mean? It doesn’t mean to let toxic people back into your life. But I do think it means that with everything in your heart to truly wish that other person well. To wish them love, peace and harmony, to wish them well.

Movieguide® recently reported on McKellar’s Bible reading goal:

“What I see in this, the very human trait of justifying and rationalizing behavior, that we know is wrong, but we want it to be right,” McKellar stated in her update. “I know I’ve done that before and then I look back and I’m like, ‘Hmm, I was rationalizing that. I wanted it to be true because it was convenient or safe or attractive or whatever it was, but it wasn’t right.”

Additionally, McKellar shared on the battle between David and Goliath, how that story has “become a popular metaphor for overcoming adversity and achieving success despite seemingly insurmountable obstacles.”

“I love how many of the stories in the Bible are so engrained in our culture and to see where it all comes from is just really exciting,” she concluded.
