How Does Harrison Ford Feel About INDIANA JONES 5 Flop?

After the fifth INDIANA JONES movie flopped at theaters a few years ago, Harrison Ford is moving on with his career with an air of apathy about his recent failure.

“S*** happens,” Ford told The Wall Street Journal Magazine, per Variety about the movie. “I was really the one who felt there was another story to tell. When [Indy] had suffered the consequence of the life that he had to life, I wanted one more chance to pick him up and shake the dust of his a** and stick him out there, bereft of some of his vigor, to see what happened. I’m still happy I made the movie.”

The movie grossed $60 million in the US and $70 million internationally, only bringing in $130 million during its three-day open, which CNN called a “lackluster” open considering its $300 million cost to make.

The failure of the movie was disappointing for fans of the INDIANA JONES franchise, especially because Ford was so excited for it before it debuted. While doing press for the movie he called it “fantastic” and shared that he thought it was a great way to lay the character to rest — confirming it would be the last time he reprises the role.

Despite the failure of the movie, Harrison Ford is happy to work with Disney again, jumping into the MCU as President Thaddeus “Thunderbolt” Ross/Red Hulk in CAPTAIN AMERICA: BRAVE NEW WORLD. The star accepted the role before he even had a script because it simply seemed like it would be fun.

“Why not? I saw enough Marvels to see actors that I admired having a good time,” Ford said. “I didn’t really know that at the end I would turn into Red Hulk. Well, it’s like life. You only get so far in the kit until the last page of the instructions is missing.”

This resurgence of Ford taking on popular roles comes after the aging actor revealed he has no plans of ever retiring.
