How Dolly Parton Made One Mom’s Dream Come True

Dolly Parton made one mom’s dream come true — the opportunity to sing a duet with the country legend.
Demaree, a single mom from Tennessee, has a musical background, performing in Les Miserables on Broadway at age 8, The Secret Garden musical, Big: The Musical and Wicked.
“I have a full-time office job, and I’m a single mom to two kids,” she told News Channel 5 Nashville. “It’s been a challenge to fit music into that. It has been a very long journey for me. I am older. I am unsigned. I’m an independent artist. Fitting it in when I can, I can barely get into different writes around town, cause I’m nobody! There were people in my life who told me, ‘You need to give this up. You’re too old.’ I said, ‘Maybe I am being foolish. I’m way past my prime.'”
But God had other plans. Demaree’s mother met a woman named Judy Ogle at work. They became friends, and one day when Demaree and her mom were visiting Ogle, a very familiar but unexpected face walked in — Dolly Parton, who is Ogle’s best friend.

Demaree’s mom shared with the country star that her daughter’s dream was to sing with her, and she made it happen.
Last week, Demaree and Dolly Parton released a cover of the song “You’ll Never Walk Alone.”
“I am so thankful that God has seen me through some really difficult times and for every person he brought into my life to walk alongside me,” Demaree posted on Instagram. “This opportunity and song are a testament to God’s faithfulness. I hope it encourages your hearts and reminds you that you truly never walk alone!”
“With my background in Broadway musicals and Dolly’s new musical heading to Broadway, it felt like a perfect fit to sing our new rendition of Rodgers and Hammerstein’s ‘You’ll Never Walk Alone.’ What an honor it is to have Dolly sing on this special song!” she added.
