How Gary Sinise Hopes His New Movie Helps Veterans
By Movieguide® Contributor
Gary Sinise hopes the new movie BROTHERS AFTER WAR will help veterans acclimate back into civilian life.
“We want them to know that there’s a way to share their stories,” the actor, who has dedicated his life to advocating for our nation’s heroes, told Newsmax. “Their stories are important. And I think by seeing this film and seeing the veterans in this film sharing their stories on camera for the world to see, it’s going to be very, very encouraging for somebody who may just need to talk about something but hasn’t been able to do it.”
Sinise produced BROTHERS AFTER WAR and Jake Rademacher directed.
“Jake Rademacher reconnects with his brothers and elite Soldiers and Marines he embedded with during the Iraq War,” a synopsis reads. “Intercutting footage past and present, he leads us on an insightful, humorous, and moving journey as we watch warfighters explore loss, meaning, and hope on their path from warfighter to veteran.”

“The battle doesn’t end when they leave the war. BROTHERS AFTER WAR is an insider’s look at the extraordinary journeys veterans undertake to heal and move forward,” said Rademacher. “The production was an intimate opportunity to witness veterans’ sacrifices, unseen battles and post traumatic growth. With BROTHERS AFTER WAR, we want to have Americans see our veterans as they really are and walk beside them on their journey home.”
Sinise hopes that the film will bridge the gap between military members and the “average American.”
“There’s a big disconnect between the average American who doesn’t have a relationship to anybody in the military and our military, the people that actually serve our country,” he said. “So maybe BROTHERS AFTER WAR can help bridge that disconnect. That’s what we hope.”
The movie releases in theaters Feb. 28.
