How God Restored This Gospel Singer’s Marriage

Gospel singer Tye Tribbett and his wife, Shante, know firsthand that God can restore marriages.

The couple had split up for a period of time, but the Lord healed their marriage and drew them back together. In an interview with TBN, they shared about their journey to healing.

Shante explained how she was born to young, unmarried parents and felt unworthy of love. Because of this, she did everything from a place of fear.

“I did everything out of fear. I gave out of fear, I loved out of fear, I hugged out of fear,” she explained.

She developed high blood pressure because of the constant fear and stress, and God showed her that she had been working to please people instead of God. “I started being a people pleaser which grew into sickness,” she said.

Tye chimed in about some personal issues he dealt with as well.

“I came in that journey and married her, not knowing that. So of course, she, out of fear, would not communicate honestly a lot of other things to me. I was crazy too…we experienced moral failure,” he recalled. “I was like, I didn’t know if we were going to get divorced or not. Like ‘Oh is it over for us?’ She said yes, it’s over.”

Shante went to New Jersey while Tye stayed in California. On opposite ends of the country, they prayed for their marriage.

Through prayer, Tye realized that he had been putting success and accolades above his marriage.

“God rebuked me about just, the pursuit of your own success. He said ‘I know the plans that I have for you. Pursue my successful thoughts towards you.’”

God drew them back together amid their pain, and they forgave each other.

“He drew our hearts back together, and we are restored,” Tye said.

The couple have since co-founded Live Church Orlando and are involved in the ministry there.

Tye continues to make music and recently “swept the 2024 Stellar Awards, winning six awards, including artist of the year and song of the year for ‘Only One Night Tho (Live),'” Billboard reported.

“Youuuuu are such a serious blessing to the body of Christ aaannndddd to ME!! It’s a honor to live with and enjoy such a special person. Before these awards and after I’ll be right by your side,” Shante posted after his win.

The Tribbetts’ story is proof that if you give your struggles over to God and are willing to forgive, there is nothing that cannot be restored.
