How Sadie Robertson Huff Conquered Anxiety
By Movieguide® Contributor
Sadie Robertson Huff struggled with anxiety on and off through the years, but knowing who she is in Christ keeps her grounded.
“I definitely have lived in it, and I feel like I have common fears now that are just natural, but I do not live with anxiety,” she said on her podcast. Huff credits her community, family, friends and professionals for helping her overcome her anxious life.
She continued, “A really cool thing for me actually, I went to the doctor that I hadn’t been to in a long time…and she handed me my chart, and she was like, ‘Hey here’s your old chart, just change anything that’s been changed.’ You know, you typically look at the address or your phone number or whatever you think might have changed, and it was so cool because on her paper like I had like ‘anxiety’, like that was a part of my medical page, and I marked it out, and I was like ‘This is changed, I don’t have that anymore.’”
Many struggle with anxiety. The AADA reported, “Anxiety disorders and the most common mental illness in the U.S., affecting 40 million adults (19.1% of the population) age 18 and older every year.”
But even for those who struggle deeply with anxiety, Huff emphasized the importance of not letting it become your identity.
“If I am a child of God, this anxiety thing cannot be my identity. [It] doesn’t mean I’m not going to wrestle with it, doesn’t mean it’s not something that might come up in my life, but it is not who I am,” she said, “so really taking the scripture and believing it and walking that out has been really powerful for me.”

1 Peter 5:7 reminds us to “Cast all your anxiety on Him because He cares for you.” Even as someone wrestles with the anxiety and works on getting the help they need, God is there to help as well. Because he loves us, we can give him our anxiety as we work through our struggles.
The DUCK DYNASTY star recently spoke about the importance of rooting our identity in Christ.
“…when you anchor your identity in Christ, no matter what seasons of life you go through, no matter what changes happen in your life, you have an anchoring in your identity to know this change, that change, whatever, but the main thing stays the same… and what a gift in life to have that,” she said on Instagram.
