Sadie Robertson Huff is sharing how her life changed after she conquered fear.
“Every time I tried to lead my life because of my own selfish ambitions, fear stepped in,” she explained, per Relevant. “Many times, fear comes from the unknown, and when I tried to lead myself through unknown territory, fear was waiting for me.”
Sadie Robertson Huff fear led her to follow the wrong things and people and make decisions based on emotions instead of the Holy Spirit’s leading.
“I’ve drawn a few wrong lines in my life because I let me lead me,” she said. “My brother John Luke says God has a big eraser. Boy, am I glad about that. God’s eraser is called grace, and He loves to use it.”
Huff especially needed grace when it came to relationships.
“For a time, I was basing what I thought love was on something that was not true,” she says. “I had looked at false evidence as truth.”
One day while worshipping, she heard the lyric, “There is no fear in love,” and she broke down.
“I had cried a river of tears asking God to help me to not be afraid over this section of my life,” the former Movieguide® Awards Gala host said. “That dreadful dot had caused me so much hurt, bitterness and fear. But through the words of that song, God spoke to me that fear and love do not go together.”
“Those relationship dots were hard to face and the process was long,” she said. “But they led me to a deeper understanding and pursuit of what love means. They made me who I am today.”
Her understanding of these concepts helped her to strengthen her spirit and let go of fear. She’s not afraid to live publicly and share who she is and who God is.
“The minute I allow God to use my failures I began to see the fullness of who He is,” she said. “If my failures bring Him glory, I will gladly make them known.”
She acknowledges she’s imperfect, but now “I’m choosing to walk in beauty, led by peace,” she says.
Huff believes trust in God and trust in the process of transformation is essential to change. She thinks change happens when you don’t try to erase painful moments but let them shape you.
If she hadn’t allowed that to happen, then she “would not have ended up on the other side of fear,” she said.

Huff talks about this extensively in her book, Live Fearless: A Call to Power, Passion, and Purpose.
In 2017, she shared, “Coming from someone who battled with anxiety for a rough 2 years I cling tight to verses like this. Proverbs 3:24 ‘When you lie down, you will not be afraid; When you lie down, your sleep will be sweet.’”
“Night time would sometimes be the time when I was most fearful, because I would think about every single possibility and situation that could happen,” she continued. “Tonight I Rest In Peace with the unity of the Spirit taking courage and praying for my heart, not for my situations.”
Huff has also talked about fear on her podcast with Christian singer Lauren Daigle.
During Lauren Daigle’s career during the pandemic, she had severe depression and anxiety. She shared with Huff that she found peace when she gave her concerns to God and took time to “rest.”
“I had to remind myself, ‘Lauren you are not going to bow to the kingdom of this world, but bow to the Kingdom of the Lord,’ and that looks like operating in a place of rest,” Daigle said.
Huff said, “Even while we are resting, He is watching over [us]. He is working.”
That’s right. No matter what trials come our way or how much potential there is for something to go wrong, God is working behind the scenes. He’s got us in His hands.
