How the Lord Fully Inspired Sadie Robertson Huff’s Latest Sermon

Leading up to this year’s Passion conference, Sadie Robertson Huff felt called to tell the full story of the Bible, and although she felt unworthy of such a talk, the Lord brought it together.

Huff prepares for the Passion conference year-round. As she’s doing her daily scripture readings and receiving sermons from others, she is always looking ahead to her talk at this conference. This year, she didn’t feel the Lord speaking to her until November when she heard Him say that she was going to give a talk that recapped the whole story of the Bible.

“Every time I asked the Lord about [the conference] I just kept hearing the Lord say, ‘Just tell the story. Like, tell the story of the Bible.’ Which felt like specific direction but also so broad. How do I tell the whole story of the Bible. That just felt very intimidating to me,” Huff recalled.

“I just kept saying to God, ‘God, I feel like the least likely person to do this. I just feel like if everyone who’s going to be on that stage, I should not the one recapping the whole story of the Bible. I’m the only one that’s not like a Bible teacher. I’m not a pastor. I didn’t go to seminary school.’ And so, I just kept, like, disqualifying myself to do what I felt like God was asking me to do,” she continued.

Daunted by the task, Huff kept delaying, and November went by without much work on the talk. As December dawned, the conference was only a month away, and Huff had still yet to truly begin work on her message. Looking for advice, she asked John Mark Comer during an episode of her podcast where he would start a project like this.

“I asked him, and if felt kind of sloppy in the moment if you listen to the podcast, I was like, ‘If you were like me and you’re going to recap the whole story of the Bible, how would do that,’” she said. “And it was, like, so funny. If you heard how shook I was because he was like, ‘Well, have you ever heard of the Bible Project?’ And I was like, ‘Oh, my gosh.’”

“If the Lord repeats Himself, you better be listening, and that was a repeat of what I already heard,” Huff continued. “So I was like, ‘Okay. I’m for sure about to go watch all the videos.’ And John Mark was like, don’t go do that between now and Passion. You don’t have the time for that. But I did. And I watched all the videos. It was like 12+ hours from Genesis to Revelation.”

Through her dedication and perseverance, Huff created a message that recapped the entire Bible. However, even two days before the conference, she hadn’t quite nailed down the talk.

“The day before we were about to leave for Passion, I went through the message with my mom and Christian one more time, and my mom was basically like, ‘Sadie, it’s not really together. Like, I think what you’re trying to do is cool recapping the Bible for people, but I just don’t know it it’s really going to be that helpful because I don’t think you’re being concise as you need to be. It’s a little bit confusing. I don’t really see the thread.’ She’s just saying very honestly, like, it’s not working,” Huff said.

“I was like, ‘Mom I don’t know what to tell you. I’ve been studying this for two months. This is what I felt like the Lord said to do. I don’t know what to say,’” she continued.

Disappointed by her mom’s hard truth, Huff continued to work on her message, rewriting sections to make things clearer and concise. With the event looming closer, Huff got to the point where there was no more she could do, and she had to trust everything to the Lord’s hand.

The Lord pulled through, and Huff delivered the story of the whole Bible in only 35 minutes.

“I never did it right except for whenever I was there [on stage] because the Holy Spirit took over. Yes, it’s fully the Lord but it’s also fully your obedience too. So, I think when God calls you to something, you, God’s going to do it. He’s going to come through on it, but you also have to be obedient to what He calls you to,” Huff said.

She recapped Passion on Instagram, saying, “How do I know God is real? I once was dead, and now I’m alive! passion 2024 – we walked in one way – we left another. there is no more normal!”

“‘I have been crucified with Christ. It is no longer I who live, but Christ who lives in me. And the life I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me,’ ‭‭Galatians‬ ‭2‬:‭20‬ ‭ESV‬‬,” Huff concluded.

Sadie Robertson Huff is encouraging people to choose faith over fear.

“The minute you stop praying for your circumstances to change and you start praying for your heart to change, that’s when everything’s going to start happening for you,” Huff said of the moments when she has felt fear. “Because when you pray for your circumstances to change, you get discouraged when nothing’s changing, but when you stop, and you pray for your heart to change…that’s when you have peace that surpasses all understanding.”

She continued, “You’ve got to believe He’s fighting for you…and in your weakness, He will be your strength.”

Huff then shared a story about a conversation she had with a man who wanted to turn away from God because he couldn’t feel His presence in his life.
