‘I Should Be Running Towards Jesus’: Jenny Marrs Shares Words Of Wisdom Inspired By Farm Life

FIXER TO FABULOUS star Jenny Marrs shared some words of wisdom from a recent day at her family’s Arkansas farm.

Marrs’ photo featured her and daughter Charlotte in the pasture with some of their family animals, including a donkey, dogs, sheep, and a llama.

“In biblical times, shepherds would lead their flock out of the city to graze each day,” she wrote in the caption. “They would guide their herd to the patches of grass amidst the rocky terrain throughout the region. They would also protect their sheep from dangerous animals or treacherous holes in the ground. The sheep literally trusted the shepherds with their lives.”

Marrs continued, “These days, in our small Northwest Arkansas town, our own little flock graze merrily in an abundantly grass-filled pasture. They are protected by fences and barbed wire and dogs. They don’t really need Dave or I except for treats and additional feed in the winter.”

“Even still, they know our voice. And they follow us whole-heartedly. They RUN toward us when we call, trusting completely that we will provide them with good things,” Marrs said of the family flock.

She concluded, “Time in the pasture always reminds me that I should be running toward Jesus with even more abandon than these animals are running toward the possibility of a treat and a back rub. I can trust Him for so much more – He promises abundance and life in all its fullness. And, He doesn’t say I have to wait until I reach Heaven to experience the richness He offers. I can live in the fullness here and now. His Kingdom come, on earth as it is in Heaven.”

Marrs frequently shares thoughts about how her life on the farm mirrors both her relationships with others and her relationship with God. Movieguide® previously reported:

Jenny Marrs recently found some inspiration from her family’s farm animals and shared her thoughts with her Instagram followers.

The HGTV star posted a video of two of her kids petting their donkey and flock of sheep as they helped their parents move the animals to a new pasture.

“Once again, my sheep have taught me more about God’s heart for His kids,” she wrote.

Her caption continued:

Today, Luke helped me move the sheep to a new pasture. It was a little hectic when two ran into the yard and it took a LOT of work for us to get them into the pasture where they would be safe. Once they were all safely moved, we had to fill their water troughs and check all of the fencing for holes. We needed to ensure Jack and Belle were moved in to their little house in the pasture with food, water and bedding so they can keep the sheep safe from predators.

This evening, I’m physically tired but my heart is so full knowing they are safe in an abundant pasture.

As we watched the sheep graze happily, I was reminded of the book “A Shepherd Looks at Psalm 23.” In it, Phillip Keller says, “He is the owner who delights in His flock. For Him there is no greater reward, no deeper satisfaction, than that of seeing His sheep contented, well fed, safe and flourishing under His care.

No wonder Jesus said, ‘I am the good shepherd.’”

I love knowing that, as His kids, God wants us to find contentment and joy even when we want to choose our own path by wandering into the yard instead of the place of abundance He has designated for us. Regardless of our detours, He’ll keep on working tirelessly to get us where we should be. And, in that place, we will flourish. Not because of anything we did on our own, but because we have a really good Shepherd leading us.
