It’s Official: Blake Shelton’s New Singing Show Is Coming to CBS

Blake Shelton and YELLOWSTONE creator Taylor Sheridan are hosting the next big singing competition, THE ROAD, on CBS.

“THE ROAD trails a headlining superstar on their journey to discover the next big artist with singers joining the headliner on tour, performing as opening acts in venues across the country,” Deadline reported Nov. 11. “They will compete to win over local fanbases to secure a spot in the next city and remain on the tour. The headline superstar is not yet confirmed.”

CBS will introduce the series Fall 2025. MTV Entertainment Studios, David Glasser’s 101 Studios and Lucky Horseshoe Productions will produce. Sheridan, Shelton, Lee Metzger and Glasser will executive produce.

Shelton just left THE VOICE last year. He’s also judged on NASHVILLE STAR and CLASH OF CHOIRS. Currently, he hosts BARMAGEDDON with Carson Daly, so he’s had his share of reality show experience. Besides creating YELLOWSTONE, Sheridan created and executive-produced THE LAST COWBOY.

“I’m a big fan of Taylor’s incredible work, and I’m excited to team with him and my long-time collaborator, Lee, on THE ROAD,” said Shelton. “I know a thing or two about singing competitions and what it’s like to chase a music dream and live life on tour. I’m looking forward to discovering new talent and giving them this platform.”

“There is a revolution taking place in country music. Building a platform with Blake for the next leaders of that revolution is an incredibly exciting venture,” Sheridan said. “No more shiny floors and studio audiences. This is where the rubber meets the road – literally. Get in the van, go to the next town and win the crowd. Do it enough, and you become the next leader. Simple as that.”

Glasser added this is a long-time passion project for the four of them and showed appreciation to CBS for its support.

“Blake and I have been working together a long time and now joining forces with Taylor and David is literally the kind of team you dream about to bring something of this scale to country music fans,” Metzger added.

Shelton recently promoted the new movie THE BEST CHRISTMAS PAGEANT EVER, which came out Nov. 8. The family comedy features some of Shelton’s own music.

“It’ll be sure to warm your heart and remind you why this season is special!” Shelton said about the movie.
