BRINGING UP BATES’ Jackson Bates and Emerson Wells are married!
“I would have never thought I could meet someone that is as perfect as Emerson,” Bates said in an interview with PEOPLE. “I fell in love first, and I haven’t stopped thinking that she’s the best thing in my life since I first asked her to marry me.”
He added that he and Wells are “very grateful for the family and friends who have gathered today to support and encourage us…We wouldn’t be where we are without some of the wonderful counsel, examples and prayers that have been offered on our behalf.”
“In summary, God has been so very good to us and we are grateful,” Bates concluded. “Now we look forward to a new chapter in life serving Christ together and loving one another.”
The couple announced their engagement via their joint Instagram account earlier this year, writing, “SHE SAID ‘YES!’ I can’t wait for ‘I DO!’”
Bates and Wells have also shared some of the lessons they learned as an engaged couple.
“Proverbs 27:17 talks about how iron sharpens iron, as one person should sharpen another. We feel like we have experienced this verse the most since being together!” they wrote. “And what a gift that is. We pray that we always strive to point each other back to Jesus.”
The post continued, “Engagement season is so special and so fun! But the time goes so fast. We have been learning to really soak in these last moments before we become one. Bible studies, seeking wise counsel, and having intentional conversations with each other and our parents have been high priorities!”
“What a sweet thing it is to love and to be loved. God’s perfect and sacred design of marriage is a blessing to take part in. We are excited for all to come!” the couple’s post concluded.
