The Jacksonville Jaguars selected Georgia defensive end, Travon Walker with the No. 1 overall pick in the NFL draft on April 28.

“This is a great feeling, just for Jacksonville to give me the opportunity,” Walker said. “It’s something that I’ve always prayed for ever since I was 7 years old. It’s truly a blessing to be in this position.”

However, until draft night, many were uncertain about which player would take the No. 1 spot. Walker said that he surrendered the draft to God.

“No one knows where they’ll end up just because you don’t know what people upstairs — GMs, things of that sort — [are thinking],” Walker told Yahoo Sports’ Eric Edholm. “A coach may like you a lot more than the GM may like you, so you never really know how it’s going to play out. So I just leave it all in God’s hand.”

The Georgia Bulldog played three seasons of college football, helping to lift his team past rival Alabama 33-18 in the College Football Playoff National Championship for the team’s first title in 41 years.

Walker is open about his faith and often praises God on his social media. After the draft, he thanked God for the opportunity to play in the NFL.

“No. 1 would have to be God. Without God I wouldn’t be in this position that I am today,” he said in an Instagram video.

Jacksonville also added Utah linebacker Devin Lloyd with the 27th overall pick.

Movieguide® previously reported of Lloyd:

This year, Lloyd is a favorite to land the first pick in the 2022 NFL draft. However, Lloyd’s confidence is not in earning the first pick but in God.

“By the way I’ve worked, through my faith, I expect to be the best,” he told the Tribune. “I believe in myself, I believe in the Lord. It doesn’t always happen the way you think, but it’s amazing how it comes together.”

“My faith is huge,” he added. “I live through the Lord. I speak with Him every day. I express my appreciation. It’s a testament to my parents, the way they brought me up, and I’ve had a lot of great examples in my life who have influenced me.”

Ahead of NFL draft night on April 28, Lloyd trusts the Lord with his future.

“Ultimately I know that God is going to send me where I’m meant to go and I am going to end up at the right location,” Lloyd told Sports Spectrum in March.
