JAMES BOND Star Isn’t a Fan of Fame: ‘Celebrity Kills You’
By Movieguide® Contributor
JAMES BOND actor Daniel Craig isn’t a fan of his celebrity status.
In a new interview with The New York Times, he explained the downsides of being in the spotlight and how it impacted his life.
“Celebrity kills you. Really, it’s a terrible, terrible thing that can happen, and I think you’ve got to really fight against all of the things that it throws in your face, because it’s so easy to be tempted,” he said.

The actor’s comments come after singer Chappell Roan talked about her struggles with “stalking and harassment” after finding fame.
Roan called out a “disrespectful” photographer due to his comments to her at the 2024 MTV Video Music Awards.
Craig explained that “celebrity nowadays is more about branding than art. ‘Generating and maintaining that brand is about how much exposure you have,'” he said, per US Weekly.
“Am I a brand? You have to do social media, and I can’t do that. I even regret emails I send,” he added.
One thing he doesn’t regret is prioritizing being a dad, a role that impacts what jobs he decides to take on.
“…although starring as James Bond in the Bond franchise has given him the flexibility to choose certain jobs, now that he’s done with the role he’s had to be more open with his career,” PEOPLE reported.
“I’ve got a 6-year-old at home,” the actor, who shares daughter Grace with his wife, Rachel Weisz, said. “And I don’t want to be away from home as much as I have in the past.”
