Jamie Foxx Has ‘New Respect For Life’ Following Hospitalization

By Movieguide® Contributor

Jamie Foxx recently made his first public appearance since a medical complication caused him to be hospitalized earlier this year.

“You know, it’s crazy, I couldn’t do that six months ago — I couldn’t actually walk,” Foxx said after walking across the stage to accept the Critics Choice Association Vanguard Award.

The actor continued, “I cherish every single minute now — it’s different. I wouldn’t wish what I went through on my worst enemy because it’s tough when it’s almost over. When you see the tunnel, I saw the tunnel — I didn’t see the light.”

“I have a new respect for life,” Foxx concluded. “I have a new respect for my art. I watched so many movies and listened to so many songs trying to have the time go by. Don’t give up on your art, man, don’t give up.”

Movieguide® previously reported on Foxx’s hospitalization:

Jamie Foxx suffered a medical complication on April 11th and remains in the hospital.

Charles E. Alston who is known as, Charlie Mack, took to his Instagram to ask for prayers for his dear friend, Foxx.

“I need you all to constantly keep our beloved brotha @iamjamiefoxx up whom we all [love] & care for dearly in our Hearts, Minds & Prayers!!!! We need you back Bro. As I always state a true champion isn’t the one that wins, it’s the one that meets & overcomes adversity,” he wrote.

He added, “You’re test becomes your testimony!! We all can’t wait to receive you back home to celebrate, laugh with and applaud you.”

Finally, he concluded the caption with a prayer, “I come before you yet once again humbly asking please heal & restore our brotha @iamjamiefoxx stronger & better than before!!! I have absolutely no shame in asking pleading & begging for your merciful healing powers over our brotha now in your time not ours for miracle. I must & will thank you in advance your gracious humble servant.”

Foxx shared his gratitude in a previous Instagram post, writing, “You’re lookin at a man who is thankful…finally startin to feel like myself…it’s been an unexpected dark journey…but I can see the light.”

“I’m thankful to everyone that reached out and sent well wishes and prayers,” he continued. “I have a lot of people to thank… u just don’t know how much it meant…I will be thanking all of you personally…and if you didn’t know…GOD IS GOOD…all day every day…”

In another post, Foxx said, “I went to hell and back, and my road to recovery had some potholes as well. But I’m coming back, and I’m able to work.”
