Jamie Foxx Knows ‘God Is Good’ As He Makes Hollywood Comeback
By Movieguide® Contributor
Jamie Foxx isn’t taking life for granted. After his near-death health scare in 2023, Foxx encouraged those at this year’s Golden Globes to live life to the fullest.
“When you dream about what you want to be, you only dream about the good things…the career, the house, you never dream tragedy,” he shared on the red carpet. “When tragedy happens in a real way, you need solid family and friends, so the two ladies that are with me tonight — [daughters] Corinne Marie Foxx and Anelise — held me down in a way that is hard to interpret in these settings… You have to show up and really take over everything, and she did that, and that’s why I’m here.”
Foxx has previously credited his daughter for saving his life after a stroke left him in a coma.
“That’s when a miracle happened, and that miracle was working through my youngest daughter. She’s 14. I didn’t want her to see me like that, but she snuck into my hospital room with her guitar, and she said, ‘I know what my daddy needs…that’s my daddy.’” He continued, “They said when she was playing, my vitals went down. The nurses at the nurse’s station were baffled. Like, ‘Wow what did they give him?’ They rushed into the room, and she said, ‘Ssh. I got him.’…Do you know what I found out? That God was in that guitar. That’s my spiritual defibrillator.”

He had a heart-to-heart with God after his incident.
“You know, when you’re in Hollywood, you know, God sometimes slips away,” Foxx said. “But when I spoke to him, he says, ‘Listen, I need you to sit over here for a second, but when you get back out there, I ain’t telling you to be an angel, but just — you know — you have a different thing.’”

He took to Instagram after the event to share some photos with his daughters and to praise God.
“Me with my two beautiful daughters globetrotting at the @goldenglobes … a proud father daughter moment Anelise Estelle and @corinnefoxx so beautiful and fearless… When I was asked on the carpet, what do you think about the awards? I said I have already won to be here with my two girls,” Foxx wrote. “Standing upright. Standing with so much love. It’s not my award. It’s my reward. God is good and I think you know the rest. ??????”
