Jamie Lynn Spears Celebrates Her Daughter’s ‘Miracle Anniversary’

Jamie Lynn Spears is celebrating her eldest daughter, Maddie’s, “miracle anniversary” — when God miraculously healed her after a life-threatening accident.
“Today is extra special, bc it’s Maddie’s #MiracleAnniversary,” she wrote on Instagram on Feb. 5. “And we could never have made it through that time without God, our faith, the first responders, amazing medical teams, family, and the prayers & support from our community, as well as from you guys all around the world.”
“I’m posting some pics of Maddie on the set of SWEET MAGNOLIAS over the years, bc it was my first job after the accident and after having Ivey, it was a real turning point in my life to get be a part of the Sweet Mags family & community,” she continued. “We have nothing without the love and support of those around us, and I’m so grateful to be a part of a show that’s built on that simple fact. 1 more day until SEASON 4 is y’all’s🤍 I’ll never let this day pass without saying THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU🤍.”
It was Feb. 5, 2017, when 8-year-old Maddie’s ATV flipped into a pond on her family’s property. She stayed underwater for several minutes.
“Nobody can live if they’ve been underwater this long. You logically are thinking these things,” Spears said. “Then you hear the sirens coming. Thank God my mother-in-law, first thing she did was call 911.”

“[Maddie] was caught in the safety netting,” she recalled. “So when they got there, she was not alive. They took her from me and they intubated her.”
She was airlifted and put on life support. She got out of the hospital a week later, having miraculously not suffered any brain damage.
Spears recalled how she and the hospital staff thought Maddie wouldn’t make it. She was hooked up to breathing machines, unresponsive, when a priest came and read her last rites to her.
“When they did, her body physically sat up,” Spears said. “Her spirit responded to it for whatever reason. She got better and better every day and walked out of the hospital. [She] has no repercussions.”
“So that’s when I became Catholic. For about five minutes I thought I’d lost my daughter and then I was given the miracle of having her back. My biggest fear was she was going to die thinking her momma wasn’t trying to save her.”
“We were blessed. Things like that don’t just happen for no reason,” Spears said in 2022. “That’s how we discuss it now. It’s our miracle anniversary, not our accident anniversary. And both Maddie and I are so grateful.”
