Jenny Marrs Leans on God To Handle Daughter’s Grief: ‘He Reminded Me That This Too Can Be a Step in Her Faith’

Jenny Marrs updated fans on how she and daughter Charlotte are handling the loss of one of the family’s sheep and how God helped them both get through their grief.

Marrs posted a video earlier this week of their sheep, Sunny, and let fans know he died.

“This place and these animals have brought us so much goodness and joy,” she wrote. “Yet, the reality of this life we have chosen is that there are hard, hard days too. Yesterday was pretty brutal.”

She continued, “Sunny, you were so loved, buddy. We hated to say goodbye. I’m trusting that even while we are here, sitting in our sorrow, you are grazing in the most abundant pasture alongside your old pal, Larry.”

In a new post, Marrs updated fans on how she and Charlotte are dealing with their sadness.

“Thank you all for the kind messages of love and condolences about our Sunny boy,” Marrs captioned a video of her children climbing a rock wall next to a body of water. “And, I can’t say thank you enough to everyone who prayed for Charlotte’s heart. She is my animal lover and was with me in the pasture caring for Sunny every single second of the day that she wasn’t in school. She just kept saying, ‘momma, we can’t lose him like Larry. He has to get better.’ She fought so hard for him and never gave up hope.”

Her caption continued:

When it was time to say goodbye, I held her while she sobbed and wailed in sorrow. My heart broke in a billion pieces for her. If I’m honest, I’ve been angry with God for this one. I know he was just a sheep and there are so many other hard things in this world but I desperately wanted healing so Charlotte could witness the miracles that l have had the privilege to see in my life. I know God could heal Sunny. I’ve seen miraculous healing and the impossible turn possible.

But, as I talked with God about it (shouted is a better word for it), He reminded me that this too can be a step in her faith. She can learn about His compassionate heart for the suffering and how He sat with us and grieved for us while we cried in the pasture that dark night.

Someday, all things will be made right. All things. Until that day, this girl will keep fighting. Of that I’m sure.

And, yesterday, as I watched her fight to climb the wall with the big kids, I felt that gentle Holy Spirit nudge whispering, “she’s going to be okay.”
