Jenny Marrs Recalls God’s Faithfulness After Infertility: ‘He Provided a Miracle’

In a throwback post on Instagram, HGTV star Jenny Marrs reflected on God’s faithfulness 14 years after her twin sons’ premature birth.

“I realized this morning that today marks fourteen years since I was airlifted to Little Rock when all signs pointed to my boys arriving {too} early,” she began. “I was 29 weeks pregnant and overwhelmed with doctors and specialists sharing all of the worst-case scenarios of what to expect when the boys were born. Little did any of us know, I would be in the hospital for another full month before they made their entry into the world.”

Despite the trial, Marrs is aware of the Lord’s faithfulness.

“God has been so good to our little family.” Marrs declared. “He had pursued my heart throughout the previous years of deep pain, preparing me for all that was to come. My walk through the darkness of infertility was hard. Gut-wrenching and isolating. I often felt so alone in my pain and brokenness. Yet, He was constant. He met me, He caught every tear, He was steadfast. He used that pain to plant a seed for loving the broken.”

“And, then. He provided a miracle. Two tiny miracles, in fact. A double portion,” she continued. “Two heartbeats rang out in that stale doctor’s office – filling it with the most glorious sound of life. A place that had held so much pain – years of heartache and disappointment – redeemed in a moment.”

As she recalled that moment 14 years ago, Marrs knows God is always in control.

“I can look back and see His sovereign hand in every aspect of my story,” she explained. “All of the pain, all of the small miracles and the jaw-dropping ones, all of the loss and the tears, every moment was part of His plan to pursue my heart.”

“Not every pain is redeemed this side of eternity but I have faith that one day all of the hard and horrible and unthinkable will be made new,” she added. “That is the essence of my faith and looking back on God’s faithfulness reminds me how deeply I can trust Him for the future.”

Movieguide® previously reported on Marrs’ birth story:

She explained that she and her husband, Dave, were “given every worst-case scenario” and told that the twins would be born in the next 24 hours.

“We absorbed their words in silence,” Jenny said. “We huddled together on the hospital bed and prayed and cried and begged God for another hour for the boys to grow in utero. And, then, when one hour passed, we exhaled briefly and started praying for another hour. Every single hour that passed was a small miracle.”

She continued, “The boys were born four weeks after that terrifying helicopter ride through the Arkansas night sky. They had an equally terrifying entrance into the world and then were cared for with immense love and compassion for four more weeks by the NICU staff at our local Mercy Hospital.”

Now, she and her husband Dave share five kids: twins Nathan and Ben, daughters Sylvie and Charlotte and youngest son Luke.

The couple adopted Sylvie from the Democratic Republic of the Congo in August 2013 but weren’t able to bring her home until July 2014 due to a government shutdown.

“It was heart-wrenching. There was nothing we could do,” Dave said.

However, the Marrs family knew she belonged with them.

“I feel like God put [it] on our hearts that she was ours, and right when you knew, it was just like, ‘Yup.’ It was a key in a lock,” he added.

Movieguide® previously reported on their adoption story:

FIXER TO FABULOUS stars Dave and Jenny Marrs are sharing the “miracle” adoption story that brought them daughter Sylvie.

Sylvie, now 11, was adopted from the Democratic Republic of Congo. The process was supposed to take just six months, but it stretched into three years.

The Marrs decided to adopt when they were struggling to start a family of their own. The process was put on hold when Jenny became pregnant with twin boys, Nathan and Ben, now 12…

The Marrs are now a family of seven, welcoming son Luke in 2019.

“[We might] look a little bit different than most, what people would consider a normal family, [but] we’re the exact same,” Dave shared.

Jenny added, “Adoption is a part of our family. It’s a part of our story, but they’re all just our kids.”
