Jenny Marrs Reflects on 2023: ‘You Can Rest’

By Movieguide® Contributor

Jenny Marrs, host of HGTV’s FIXER TO FABULOUS, took to Instagram as 2023 closed to look back on her year and share some inspirational thoughts.

She wrote in the post, which displays a beautiful video of a beach, “This year has been so abundant. Life-long dreams have been fulfilled (I wrote a book!), quiet, unspoken dreams of my heart have come to fruition (something our little family is holding close and private for now) and my wanderlust soul has been overwhelmed with goodness from travels to beloved, familiar-yet-foreign lands and new, bucket-list locations.”

Marrs’ book, titled “House + Love = Home,” released on Nov. 14.

“Despite her busy schedule and other endeavors, Marrs says that ‘House + Love = Home’ has actually been a long time coming,” Better Homes and Gardens reported. “The idea sparked in spring 2020, but it took a backseat among the chaos of the pandemic. She spent a large part of those years between then and now writing and editing—a labor of love.”

Marrs continued her post to share something she believes God spoke to her in the midst of feeling weary.

“Rest. Heal. Exhale. —> the words the Lord whispered to me as my breath caught in my throat and my pulse raced at 3 am once again,” she shared. “It’s time to rest. Lay it down. Stop wringing your hands over if the words you wrote are good enough. Stop fretting over the logistics that feel impossible for finishing an enormous project that’s looming. Stop feeling like you have to prove anything. You can stop. You can rest.”

She ended the post by encouraging her followers to take time and rest.

“Let’s rest together, friends. Thank you for this precious, encouraging and joy-filled community. In the world of online spaces, this little corner we have cultivated is one of my dearest. I’m grateful for each of you who take the time to share your heart and encourage me and one another,” Marrs concluded.

In another post, she reflected on the new year.

“Welcome, 2024,” Marrs wrote. “May we keep our eyes on the One who already knows what’s in store for the next 365 days. And, may we look back at this time next year knowing we embraced every moment with open hands and grateful hearts.”

Movieguide® previously reported on Marrs:

FIXER TO FABULOUS’ Jenny Marrs is prioritizing life’s beautiful moments over a “perfect” house.

“Our house is not a museum,” she wrote on Instagram. “It’s a living, breathing, soul-filling place where our kids learn what we value most. And we most value the five of them.”

Marrs continued, “If I value a perfectly orderly and clean home at all times, I can’t possibly encourage art projects at the kitchen table. If I value quiet and serenity, I can’t possibly embrace impromptu dance parties with music blaring and instruments being played. If I value a rigid schedule, I can’t possibly be spontaneous and seek adventure.”

“I want our home to be a place for new memories and old traditions to intertwine. I want it filled with the sweet sounds of laughter and celebration, as well as the mundane in-between moments that create a beautiful and full life,” she concluded.
