Jenny Marrs Reflects On ‘Caring for God’s Creatures’ Through Farm
By Movieguide® Contributor
HGTV star Jenny Marrs is reflecting on farm life with her family.
“This video popped up on my phone from two years ago,” she posted on Instagram. “A couple of thoughts: 1.) this is all still true (but, add Banana and Sadie to the mix!), 2.) the kids have grown WAY too much in two short years and, 3.) I still really miss my sweet Larry-the-Llama.”
The video shows Jenny, her husband Dave and their kids feeding all their farm animals.
“Our farm, it’s definitely a family farm,” Dave began. “Our animals are our pets, and I think we all each have our favorites.”
“I think my favorite are the dogs,” he continued. “I’d say Sylvia’s more dogs, as well. The boys, the bunnies. Charlotte is definitely chick and rabbit.” The couple’s son Luke “loves everybody.”
Jenny couldn’t pick her favorite after listing off nearly all their animals.
“I adore this little menagerie of animals we have here on the farm,” she continued to write. “And I love that my kids have grown up surrounded by four-legged friends who love them unconditionally and who teach them about responsibility and caring for God’s creatures big and small.”
As for Jenny, she couldn’t decide what her favorite animal was. “It’s hard to pick!” she explained.
“I adore this little menagerie of animals we have here on the farm,” Jenny continued in the caption. “And I love that my kids have grown up surrounded by four-legged friends who love them unconditionally and who teach them about responsibility and caring for God’s creatures big and small.”
In addition to their animals, the Marrs family runs The Berry Farm, a U-Pick blueberry farm that also “pave[s] a way for agricultural training and a sustainable food source for orphaned children in Zimbabwe.”
“Blueberries are a crop that will yield fruit over a long period of time. If you nurture them and properly care for them, the investment will span decades. Just the way we are investing in the lives of the children in our program,” Dave explained. “We aren’t looking to solve long-stemming issues of hunger and poverty with a short-term investment. We are committed to the long-haul with these kids. We want to sow seeds of truth and righteousness and love. The fruit that will result will be long-lasting: eternal.”
The Berry Farm recently shared an update from Zimbabwe.
“As many of you know, our farm helps fund a trade and agricultural training program in Zimbabwe that empowers teenagers and young adults to transition into adulthood with the skills that they need to succeed,” a Dec. 1 Facebook post began.
“The five students currently in the farm training program all have lived at Musha WeVana (their home) since they were two years old and younger. They were orphaned as babies. Today, they are receiving training in life skills and farming. We cannot wait to see where they go in life with these skills and talents,” the post concluded.
Movieguide® previously reported on The Berry Farm:
Jenny Marrs shared a photo of her family walking the grounds of her and her husband’s berry farm.
She wrote, “I’ve lost track of the laps we’ve prayed and walked around @theberryfarm_bentonville over the years. This soil has bold prayers and big dreams burrowed deep within.”
The Marrs family owns The Berry Farm and donates all proceeds to children around the world to better their lives.
She added, “Last night, we prayed in the fields for Berry Fest and for our dear friends doing the hard work in Zimbabwe. We prayed for this farm to be a place of refuge and peace and light in our community. We prayed for the families who will join us on Saturday and for the families across the globe who will be impacted because of our little farm tucked away in the Ozarks. What a wild, unbelievable thing this is. The work isn’t easy but it is absolutely worth it. I love that we get to do this.”
