Jenny Marrs Reminds Followers to ‘Rest’ in God: ‘He’s Got This’

FIXER TO FABULOUS star Jenny Marrs shared a snippet from her upcoming book “House + Love = Home” to encourage readers to find rest in God during overwhelming seasons.
“No matter the season, I’ve learned the importance of carving out spaces in our home specifically for rest. For me, those spaces are the comfy chair where I can read next to the roaring fire in the winter or the porch swing where I can lean against oversized pillows and listen to the birds sing in springtime,” an excerpt of Marrs’ book reads. “I don’t need to overhaul my home to create a cozy little spot, I simply need to light a candle, pour myself a steaming mug of coffee, and exhale.”
The author goes on to share from her book that another takeaway is to remember to rest in God’s sovereignty.
“Most important, I need to give myself permission to be present and remember that the world will keep on spinning if I check myself out of the race for an hour. God doesn’t need me to hold the world on my shoulders. He’s got this. I can rest,” she wrote.
In a similar post, she says gratitude is also a key to finding rest.
“The best way I’ve found to fight the weariness of this aching world is to make a regular habit of pausing to take an inventory of the good gifts all around me and offering up praise to the bestower of each and every one,” Marrs posted.
“House + Love = Home” is Marrs’ first book and will be released on November 14. Movieguide® previously shared:
“When I was in fourth grade, I wrote a book for class titled ‘Run Away Horse.’ It went on to be entered in the young author’s conference and I received a button that said ‘I’m An Author,’ which I fastened to my backpack and proudly toted around school. After receiving the button, I declared: this is what I want to do with my life. I want to be an author,” she recalled in a recent Instagram post.
“Which leads me here: in absolute awe that God opened the doors and led me on a windy, often unexpected, path to this exact moment. A moment He planted in my heart of hearts all those years ago,” she added. “I’m humbled, overjoyed and nervous to share the big news that I’ve written a book!”
“I didn’t want to write a standard how-to guide for decorating or renovating your home,” she explained. “There are enough beautiful and well-written books on the subject out there already. And, honestly, I don’t believe there is a one-size-fits-all guide that accounts for personal style and preference. Instead, I wanted to write a book to encourage you to be creative with your home.”
Along with her upcoming book release, the fifth season of FIXER TO FABULOUS will premiere November 7 on HGTV.
“We’ve been working all year on these renovations and can’t wait to share them with you all. This season, we renovate a home for dear friends, a wedding takes place on the show and we tackle our most personal renovation to date! We’ll share new animals, new families, and a lot of laughter,” Marrs wrote on Instagram.
“Our prayer for this season continues to be that our show is a light in this dark world,” she continued. “The privilege of being invited into your living room each week is not one we take lightly and we sincerely hope you walk away each Tuesday inspired and encouraged to make your home a beautiful reflection of you and your family.”
