Jeremy Renner ‘Not Afraid of Death’ Following Snow Plow Accident
By Movieguide® Contributor
Jeremy Renner is sharing how his near-death experience gave him a new outlook on life and death.
“I was never afraid, mind you, of death prior,” the actor said while appearing on THIS LIFE OF MINE WITH JAMES CORDEN. “Now, I’m really not afraid of it. Now, I’m double downing. Now, I’m kind of excited for it.”
Renner was involved in a snow plow accident in January 2023 that shattered more than 30 bones. Movieguide® previously reported:
Actor Jeremy Renner was rushed to the hospital and is in critical condition after a snow plow accident, Deadline first reported.
The AVENGERS actor, 51, reportedly suffered injuries “after experiencing a weather-related accident while plowing snow earlier today.”
“His family is with him and he is receiving excellent care,” one representative said.
The actor was clearing snow out of his driveway when he got out of the plow. It started to move on its own and ran over Renner, injuring his chest and legs.
Now, Renner is back on his feet and ready to start working again.
“I’m always game,” he said when asked if he had any interest in reprising his role as the MCU’s Hawkeye. “I’m gonna be strong enough, that’s for sure. I’ll be ready. All those guys come to my bedside, and they’ve been with me all along through this recovery, so…if they want me, they could have me. It would be something.”
Renner has previously spoken about how supportive his MCU co-stars have been throughout his recovery.
“One of the first people at my hospital bed was Anthony Mackie. This accident. He was in Vegas,” Renner told PEOPLE.
Mackie plays Sam Wilson/Captain America in the MCU, and the pair also worked together on 2008’s THE HURT LOCKER.
“He shot over, and he’s the first person I saw when I woke up. And we don’t talk all the time,” the actor explained. “We’re not, like, hanging out all the time, because the problem with having, you know, actor friends, everyone’s so busy and now we’re all parents and we never see each other. We rarely talk to each other, but the connectedness that we have is an always thing.”
