Jeremy Renner to Commemorate Snowplow Accident with New Music

By Movieguide® Contributor

Jeremy Renner is celebrating his miraculous recovery following a snowplow accident at the beginning of the year with the release of a musical diary – “Wait” – on the anniversary of the event.

“New musical diary – story of life, death, recovery, all things learned along the way ‘Wait’ lit Jan 1. I can’t wait to share more with you,” Renner posted on Instagram with a photo of the project’s cover featuring the actor with his arm around his daughter overlooking Lake Tahoe.

Since Renner was released from the hospital only a few weeks after the Jan. 1 snowplow accident – during which he sustained injuries including eight broken ribs, two broken ankles, blunt chest trauma and more – he has fueled his recovery with upcoming projects.

The first project he released was his Disney+ show, RENNERVATIONS. He even managed to walk the red carpet only four months after the accident with only a cane.

Since then, the AVENGERS star has been working on new music detailing the accident and recovery process. At the end of October, Renner announced that he has been working on “Love and Titanium,” a new album that marks “different milestones” in his recovery process.

“A collection of music we wrote about different milestones in my journey of recovery since Jan 1st this year,” he wrote on Instagram. “Love and Titanium has been painful, deeply healing, and ultimately cathartic for me to create. I hope I get the courage to share with you all.”

“Wait” is likely just a peek into the full emotion behind “Love and Titanium.”

Renner also shared that the accident helped him refocus on the things that are truly important.

“I just feel very blessed and very lucky to be upright and walk around and to live life,” he told CNN in October. “I’m very, very clear. My life is really lean, if that makes sense. There’s no fat in my life anymore. I don’t have time for that. So, there’s something beautiful about having that superpower.”

“I was really clear about how I want to spend my time, and who I want to spend my time with,” Renner continued. “This, to me, feels like family, sort of lifestyle things we talk about all the time. And then we have the spirit itself, it’s much more the shared experience. And that, to me, is where I want to spend my time.”

“There is a lot of gifts that I received because of [the accident],” he added. “When you’re tested physically, emotionally, spiritually, in every way, and then to come through it, that’s something hard to explain.”

“Wait” will release on Jan. 1.

Movieguide® previously reported:

Jeremy Renner gave fans a 10-month recovery update after his snow plow accident, sharing a video of himself running up a hill.

“Today marks the day on 10 months of recovery… First attempt of any of this activity (especially at steep grade) and was brought to tears of joy, hopefulness, and gratitude for all of you support along with my family and friends,” Renner posted on Instagram, alongside a video of him running up his steep driveway. “I keep pushing for many reasons, but you are my fuel??????.”

This recovery update is truly incredible after the injuries that Renner sustained on New Year’s Day when he stepped in front of his Sno-Cat snow plow to save his adult nephew from being run over. During his heroic maneuver, he was dragged under the 14,300-pound machine, sustaining life-threatening injuries, including blunt chest trauma, eight broken ribs, two broken ankles and more.

Renner was discharged from the hospital only two weeks later. He has since motivated himself with upcoming projects to find the strength for his recovery.
