JERRY MAGUIRE’s Jonathan Lipnicki On Child Stardom

JERRY MAGUIRE star Jonathan Lipnicki is opening up about child stardom.

“It was crazy. It was very much overnight. My life was just different,” he said of his role in the movie, which was his first time on screen. “It was a blur for the next five, six years. Just moving through time really fast.”

Lipnicki said he felt “very lucky” about his experience in Hollywood at such a young age.

“You hear a lot of negative stories. There’s nothing I would take back. There’s nothing I would take back at all,” he continued. “You know, I love it and I found out what I want[ed] to do for the rest of my life when I was 5 years old.”

Lipnicki appeared in STUART LITTLE and STUART LITTLE 2, both of which were selected as some of Movieguide®’s Best Movies for Families the year they released.

While Lipnicki calls acting “the greatest job in the world,” he also cautioned those considering a career in the entertainment industry.

“If you have anything else in your life that makes you just as happy, do that. Because this is very, very, very painful. It can be awful if it isn’t the thing you really want to dedicate your life to,” he explained. “Getting a job is the hardest part…Life is stress, right? What are you willing to stress over? I’m willing to stress over this forever.”

While Lipnicki is still acting, he has recently left Hollywood behind. The actor moved to Oklahoma City three months ago.

“I just hit a point where I realized I was self-taping everything,” he said. “Everything I do is either Zoom or self-tape anyway. I wanted to see what it’s like to live somewhere else.”

Lipnicki is also exploring other areas of the entertainment industry. He was recently named an executive producer at production, post-production and distribution company Buffalo 8.
