Jesse Hutch shared his experience working on Angel Studio’s upcoming HOMESTEAD project.

“I play an ex Green Beret, who is part of the main security detail brought in to protect a 300 acre homestead,” he wrote on Instagram. “As a performer, I have a deep longing to represent the characters I play on screen. Film moves quickly. Every opportunity I had was created by a fantastic team who cared about the story.”

Hutch shared that he and other cast members trained with “Actual Green Berets and Marines,” consulted with active duty members of the military and trained six days a week.

“We have an awesome writing team,” he continued. “I can’t live 30 years of service in 1 feature film but…I’m gonna give it a shot. This will be released this year in 2024. The crew and cast are fantastic people. Keep your eyes open. The feature film will be in theaters. The tv series to follow is coming.”

Hutch spoke further about his role with Pure Flix and shared why he felt guided towards the project.

“I attempted to join the military twice actually in my life and both times just really felt like God was like ‘No, don’t do it,’” he said. “I have no idea what I was being guided for and redirected for…but when I look back, I believe there’s a lot of great things that have happened in my life and now I get to represent people that I’ve actually kind of always had a heart for. There’s a part of me that really is drawn to that sort of lifestyle — the honor, the character that comes with it.”

Movieguide® previously reported on HOMESTEAD:

Angel Studios is giving audiences a sneak peek at their latest project, HOMESTEAD, a combination movie and TV show.

“I’m always a fan first when it comes to Angel films,” Jeffrey Harmon, the Co-Founder of Angel Studios, said in a statement about HOMESTEAD. “I’m excited to see a hope-filled, family apocalypse story hit the screens — because isn’t God always doing something incredible, even during tough times? HOMESTEAD goes on a wild ride through the crash of civilization, only to reveal that family, community and love are the ultimate survival advantage. I can’t wait to watch the movie and the TV show.”

The show and movie are based on the book series “Black Autumn” and stars Neal McDonough, Bailey Chase, Dawn Olivieri, Jesse Hutch, Kevin Lawson, Kearran Giovanni, Tyler Lofton, Susan Misner, Olivia Sanabia, Grace Powell and Caden Dragomer.

The HOMESTEAD movie is directed by Ben Smallbone, who previously worked on I STILL BELIEVE and STEVE MCQUEEN: AMERICAN ICON, while the show will be run by Jason Ross and Ben Kasica, who also worked on I STILL BELIEVE.

The actor frequently speaks about the important role his faith has played in his life and career.

“If you say you believe something, then live that out,” Hutch told Faithwire. “Live it out in your marriage, live it out at your workplace, live it out in your community, live it out in your finances, your parenting, how you handle strangers…just live that out.”

He continued, “For me, personally, I really want to kind of love everybody…where they’re at and what they’re doing. And yet, at the same time, really know what I believe and stay established in that so that I don’t just fall over when someone has an idea or opinion.”
