The Jesus Film Project ministry is gathering stories about personal encounters with Jesus taking place all over the world.
“We are really excited to hear from the field, as we often do, of different people who have had dreams and visions of Jesus. And it happens quite frequently in our ministry,” Holly Newell, with Special Projects at the Jesus Film, told K-LOVE.
She continued, “Jesus Film serves over 1,800 different missional partners. So, it’s not just our people that are out around the world using the film. It’s actually tens of thousands of missionaries and sometimes they’ll send us stories that they hear and it’s really exciting when we get to hear how the Lord is moving.”
The Jesus Film Project, based in Orlando, is currently compiling these stories, from a woman in the Middle East who said Jesus began appearing to her in dreams and visions to a man who encountered Christ during a spontaneous visit to a church.
Speaking about the woman, Newell recounted, “This woman said that one night she had a dream of a man in white…and she Googled, who is the man in white? And that Google search took her to our YouTube page where we have the JESUS film in over 2,200 different language versions.”
The woman found the movie in her language and watched it. When she saw the scene showing Jesus on the Mount, “she recognized the man from her dream.”
“She found a church in her nation, which is mostly full of expatriates, but the pastor there was able to lead her to Christ and she’s now being discipled on how to use Jesus Film tools to reach people in her nation,” Newell shared. “So, God is doing it, He’s doing it digitally and He’s doing it in person.”
Another man, named Ahmed, viewed the JESUS movie as a child and was always curious about Christianity. After descending into a deep depression, he thought about taking his own life. He walked past a church and, on a whim, decided to go in.
“Ahmed went to church and when he was there, he looked around and he saw all the people with their eyes closed and they were worshiping and he thought, ‘Well, they’re closing their eyes. I’ll close my eyes too,’” Newell said. “He closed his eyes, and he saw Jesus!”
She continued, “Ahmed was so startled that he opened his eyes and then he closed his eyes again and Jesus was still there. And Jesus started to walk towards Ahmed, and Ahmed said that he could feel Jesus pass through his body! And when Jesus came through the other side, he felt all of his depression and suicidal thoughts go away.”
The JESUS movie has become a major tool to point people towards Christ. The movie premiered in 1979 and has since been translated into over 2,000 languages.
“It’s not just a movie,” Josh Newell, the executive director of the Jesus Film Project, told CBN News. “That’s really the bottom line; it’s a movement. It’s based off of the Word of God in the Gospel of Luke.”
In a recent press release, Josh shared, “To this day, it remains the world’s most translated film. The story of Jesus has never been more relevant, or accessible than it is right now, and it’s about to reach every last corner on earth.”
He continued, “There are some estimates that there are billions of people today who have never heard of Jesus. And I’m here to tell you that there is a plan to reach everyone, everywhere in the next decade.”
The stories that the Jesus Film Project are gathering demonstrate the importance of their work, sharing the story of Jesus with people around the world.
