JESUS REVOLUTION Producer Talks Next Project: ‘It’s So Warm and Funny’

JESUS REVOLUTION producer Kevin Downes shared a behind-the-scenes look at his latest project, Dallas Jenkins’ THE BEST CHRISTMAS PAGEANT EVER.
The movie, based on the book by Barbra Robinson, is currently being filmed in Winnipeg, Canada.
“The film centers on the Herdman kids, who are the absolute worst,” Deadline summarizes. “They lie, they steal, they bully…and they’ve hijacked the town Christmas pageant. As the rowdy and raucous siblings force themselves into all of the lead roles, they drive the pageant’s director, Grace (Judy Greer), and other members of her family, including husband Bob (Pete Holmes), up the wall. But through their misfit mischief, these unlikely messengers might turn out to be the ones to deliver the town’s sensational and moving portrayal of the true meaning of Christmas.”
“Hey, everybody. [I’m on] the set of BEST CHRISTMAS PAGEANT EVER…It’s the end of week one, and let me tell you, I just love making movies for you guys…I can’t wait for you to see this one, it’s so good. It’s so warm and so funny,” Downes posted on Facebook.
The video shows a snowy background behind the producer.
“It’s a bit chilly out here in Canada with the snow falling, but next Christmas season we got a good one coming your way,” Downes added.
Jenkins, an executive producer for the movie, shared his enthusiasm for this project with Deadline.
“I have been pursuing this project for 15 years, so to actually be on the set is a special moment. I’m especially grateful to be working with Judy and Pete, who are extraordinary talents and are already showing their mastery of the drama and the comedy. And the actors playing all the kids, including the Herdmans? I’ve been blown away,” he said.
“This is a dream come true and the movie I’ve most wanted to make my whole career,” Jenkins continued. “And I wouldn’t want to do it with anyone other than Lionsgate and Kingdom, who make great movies while supporting filmmakers.”
The movie is slated to release Christmas 2024.

THE CHOSEN director Dallas Jenkins and his wife Amanda just announced his new project, THE BEST CHRISTMAS PAGEANT EVER, a movie adaptation of the “hilarious family-favorite” book by Barbara Robinson.
The movie will be directed by Jenkins, in production with Lionsgate and Kingdom Story Company.
“This is the movie I was born to make. If I can only make one more movie my entire life, this is it,” Jenkins shared.
Jenkin’s passion for the movie stretches back 15 years when he and Amanda first read the book to their kids. “While reading it, they started weeping,” Desert News reported.
Throughout those 15 years, Jenkins would frequently touch base with the studio that held the rights in hopes that they would be released. Every week, he would pray for the movie when a “Pray for Pageant” reminder would pop up on his computer.
