Jill Duggar Dillard Lays Stillborn Daughter to Rest: ‘Hold You in Heaven’

Jill Duggar Dillard and her husband Derick held a ceremony for their stillborn daughter, Isla Marie, and laid her to rest three days after announcing her loss.
“Isla Marie, our baby girl. We will love you forever & hold you in our hearts until we hold you in heaven. ?Laid to rest 4.19.2024,” the couple wrote in a dual post on Instagram, sharing pictures from the ceremony.
The funeral included a little white coffin with a beautiful bouquet of flowers on top, a shrine made of baby toys and items and cards written in tribute to Isla Marie. The ceremony emphasized Psalm 23, noting that the Lord is with the Dillard family through this heartbreak.
Jill had been pregnant for four months before they found out their child had died in utero. Isla Marie was the couple’s first daughter, joining their three young sons. Jill and Derick announced the heartbreaking news of Isla Marie’s passing on April 13.
“It is with heavy hearts that we announce the stillbirth of our beautiful baby girl, Marie Dillard… From the moment we found out we were pregnant we couldn’t wait to meet our baby,” they wrote in the heart-wrenching post. “Isla was much loved from the start, and her 3 big brothers were so excited to introduce her to their world. We appreciate your prayers as we continue to grieve and heal from the loss of our little Isla Marie.”
Unfortunately, this is not the first time Jill and Derick have faced this heartbreak. The couple previously suffered a miscarriage before being blessed with their third son, Frederick “Freddy” Michael Dillard. Frederick was named after his father, Derick.

Jill’s cousin, Amy, wrote, “Isla Marie such a beautiful name and meaning. Praying continuously.. God has a plan through all the heartbreak. You’ve been on my mind and in our prayers and will continue to be. ? We love y’all so much.”
